Under current New York State law(s), what kind of sentencing would you expect a judge to give to someone who:

1) Was caught, and admitted to, growing 6 - 8 marijuana plants in the house

2) Admitted to police that the intent of growing was for sale and distribution (!)

3) Has a criminal history of SEVERAL drug offenses, including jail time

I'm not asking for an opinion on marijuana legalization, etc.

I AM ASKING THIS: WHAT WOULD YOU "EXPECT" A JUDGE TO GIVE AS A SENTENCE for this crime?(Remember, here was a past criminal drug history.)

Depends on the weight. Depends on the judge.(mostly the D.A.) ONE OUNCE can get you 4 years if they persue a felony conviction. With a prior drug arrest, and that many plants, I'd count on at least 2 years.

I have the distinct feeling you are trying to say that this man or woman got off easy. Which in this town/county wouldn't surprise me at all.

But...I am also wondering if this about someone getting busted and then getting a sweet deal
Because they flopped and is a rat. IF this person did get a sweet deal with a criminal history of drug offendes, my guess would be they're a rat.

Am I right? Do tell.

Either that, or they're getting the max. That's what happens if you DON'T give anyone up or if they just don't like you for some reason. We see it all the time. BOTH scenarios. It's almost like you HAVE to rat just to get a fair chance. My advice is STAY AWAY FROM DRUGS.

I hope they get off with just a little community service.
When growing your weed, keep in mind a famous saying from Ben Franklin...Two people can keep a secret as long as one of them is dead.
Everybody that gets caught, was ratted out by a "friend."

So the justice system tries to keep them out as long as possible, don't make them out to be a rat. He who casts the first stone they say.....

Your argument is ridiculous. Absolutely absurd! Is this the best you could do?

What are you afraid of? That people are going to start naming names, finally?

Anyone who has ALREADY done jail time for a drug-related crime--on top of other drug-related crimeS--is NOT gong to be given leniency... UNLESS they can give something in return.

My information homes from a one on one conversation with Julie Garcia , the ex DA from Essex County

There are reasons why Julie Garcia was voted out, you know. She was seen as being soft on crime, including drug crime, as is the current DA. No better, no worse. And, they both understood the (supposed) benefit of using rats.

BTW, this sounds very much like a case from 2010. Right here in Ti.

Interesting. I don't remember her campaigning how she was going to keep people out of jail. Why would she have that attitude toward drug crime in Essex County? Sounds very sketchy...

What about the Lamberts? What about a 2010 case?

WHAT ABOUT DG WHO PEOPLE SAY IS BUYING AND SELLING DRUGS TO YOUNGER KIDS AND RUINING YOUNG MINDS AND LIVES TO MAKE A BUCK. HE COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THESE KIDS AND ONE MIGHT BE YOURS. HE IS RUINING KIDS MINDS AND LIVE AND ALSO THEIR FAMILIES.
HE IS ON DISABILITY. IT'S ALL ILLEGAL AND IT'S TIME TO GET HIM OFF THE SRTEETS. HE SHOULD GET AT LEAST 5 YEARS, GET HIM OFF THE STREETS OF TI. AND THERE ARE OTHERS BUYING AND SELLING. I'M SURE THE AUTHORITIES KNOW WHO THEY ARE AND HOPE SOON SOME ARREST ARE MADE.

the frozen driveways are for the vehicles to slide out into traffic hurting or killing anyone in the vehicles, you would get the same effect with the broken brake lines on the dump truck.
any other area they would have been locked up for attempted murder.
but not here
