If you listened to Cuomo's state of the state address this is a very real possibility. He wants to push New York City residence north rather than have them leave the state to New Jersey for gambling. Keep the money here.

I agree. Jobs, tourism, and money. We have the lakes as a attraction add a casino and its a entire other branch of tourism

The locals need to be ready to eat ramen noodles and pork & beans because when you get done being scalped at the casino-- that'll be all you can afford. These businesses make money and the only way to keep the lights on is to take more $ in than they give out. People will do whatever they have to in order go gamble. IE; there was a long-time night manager of a convenience store who decided to take the day's receipts ($6000) and try to parlay it into whatever she could then make the night deposit later. She lost the entire amount, lost her job and had to go to jail.

The benefits will be they employ a lot of people and offer health ins.

It's a good idea, but Ticonderoga will never let it happen. The town leaders are much too narrow minded to accept anything like that. It's a shame the Lowes building is empty, but I would be it becomes another neglected old building like the old hospital. Ti doesn't want to progress for fear that thier gig will get caught up with and come to an end.

the members of the town board in lake george, are working and planning, a push to have it placed in Lake George, if it happens, ticonderoga should do the same, lower taxes, good paying jobs and alot of them

1- You will see one somewhere in the lower hudson river valley (newburgh area)

2- One somewhere towards the south west part of the state to draw people from PA/OH to NY

3- I don't think you will see the 3rd one built.

The southern counties are not under treaty with the St Regis (I believe), this county is, so the billion Cuomo says it would take to build a complete gaming resort would have to be from them (so far- the LG area, Warren County, casino would also be tribal run). Niagara Falls has not seen three years of taxes due to a dispute (and we know how that goes, re:IP). I'm just not sure our town board is savvy enough.

some states have no school tax on their residence because the casino's are taxed enough to cover the school tax portion. not that bringing one here is enough to resolve the tax problem, but it would greatly help....well of course until our budget committee finds a way to spend it all and they of course have to continue to raise them to be sure they use all that is coming in and needs more....

I personally am glad that the town leaders are narrow minded in this case. A casino in this town would be bad news. We have enough people spending thier money on the lotto at the local stores. Imagine what would happen if people could go to the casino. Not to mention the increase in alcohol and drug use. We dont need more of that here.

Let me get this straight.....let's miss out on a tourism boost, good paying jobs and filling a huge empty piece of real estate so you can decide how the people in this town spend their money. Wow and their is our problem.

The thing about stupid people is they arent smart enough to realize how dumb they are. Yogi Bare.

A casino would never survive financially in Ticonderoga. We have no hotels, no restaurants, etc. Where would the customers come from?

I agree. There would also be an increase in prostitution.
