TICONDEROGA — A woman who allegedly shot into her husband’s fleeing pickup truck was arrested by Ticonderoga Town Police Friday night.

Sandra M. Smith, 49, of 1 Sawyer Road, Ticonderoga was charged with felony first-degree reckless endangerment.

Town Police were called to the home Mrs. Smith shares with her husband, Mark Smith, at 9:17 p.m., Sgt. Mark Johns said Monday, for a report of a woman shooting at a vehicle.

“Upon arrival, they interviewed the defendant’s husband, who stated that after a verbal domestic argument, while he was attempting to leave in the couple’s pickup truck, she stepped onto the porch and fired several shots at the pickup truck.”

Mrs. Smith was located walking on Shore Airport Road nearby and was taken into custody without incident.

Police then executed a search warrant to recover evidence from the home and impounded the pickup truck, which had bullet holes in the windshield and a tire.

Mr. Smith was unhurt in the incident.

Mrs. Smith was arraigned before Ticonderoga Town Justice James O’Bryan. She was sent to the Essex County Jail when she couldn’t pay $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bail bond.

Johns said they are still conducting the investigation, and Mrs. Smith will probably face more charges.

TELL ME this isn't the Mark Smith who used to live in Hague and was "investigated" in the Baker girl's murder back in the 1980s.

Big surprise.

Allison Baker (and her family) never received the justice she deserved. But again, no big surprise.

You can find all the info. on this case in Warren County, all public records.

Allison was a sweet girl who was trying to do the right things in life. She shared things with my mother, who tried to guide her away from people and situations that threatened her well-being. Ultimately, I believe it was Allison's cognitive issues that failed her. She did not deserve to die the way she did. And even in death, she was failed by the system.

Also, try the Post Star. I believe they may charge a small fee for their archived stories, but you can e-mail them for info. regarding archives and this story in particular.

If there was one writer who followed this story, and there very well was, you might be able to locate that person. Writers always have more information than what is printed!

And again, the Warren County records.

Good luck!

I am unfamiliar with the background story you are all refering. But if this is all true perhaps instead of jail time Mrs. Smith should have to undergo hours of target practice so when the next oppurtunity arises she can extract some justice for the Ms. Baker.

But how is it he's still around, all these people egging the woman on- we hear people boasting that they can "take care" of issues with rotten sub-humans, why is it he is able to live and work in the same area this happened unmolested for all these years? Leaving it up to someone else to try to eliminate him - why wait so long?
