What I want to know is why isn't he on this site or walking around right now, asking what the people want.

Bill Grinnell is actually looking at the issues that are plaguing our community, like the assessments that are way out of the ball park. And the a lot of other great ideas.
And Bill will learn as Supervisor that under NYS law neither he nor the Board can control assessments. That authority rests solely with the Assessor and the Board of Assessment review.

who ever wins the vote...remember that they are only a 1 in 5 vote to make a change, and no one can go in this office and just make changes because they want to. Is Bill going to have what it takes to get the votes needed to make the changes he promises? This is the truth in politics. No one walks in and sits down and just makes changes. 1 in 5 vote people.....
Oh No

Oh No! Don't tell me that they still have that unelected assistant supervisor position with the previous arrogant supervisor as her assistant! I thought we had gotten rid of him, but I guess not. He may be in there for life in an unelected position unless we get a whole new set of people on the board. What is his salary?
Is Grinnell going to keep that position for an unelected pal?
I'd like to know his answer on this, as I just got my absentee ballot and am trying to decide who to vote for.

Obviously Deb is not doing it her self or have we forgotten who her personal aid is, and what his salary is. We need a fresh set of thoughts for this town. He is more than willing to answer any questions about his ideas that he has. Just ask him instead of whining and complaining and assuming.

John Bartlett is the current deputy supervisor. Source: 1/4/13 Town Board minutes (available on the Town website)

A review of 2013 Town employee salaries on seethroughny.net does not show him listed, so it's unclear if this is a paid position.

Vote for only the best people to represent you and your town. Your townspeople's need for your to make these decisions correctly is drastic. You are directly altering the future of your town. Remember this as you vote for your representatives. Also take into consideration that your town owns the money that your town is spending. Whomever you elect to spend this money needs to understand that you are the owners of this money, and that this money should be used to benefit you in the form of town improvement, including spending money on opening jobs for fellow townspeople, and maintenance services. This is what our town needs. Elect only the people that want what's best for you as a person. Too many people view you as a number, a population. This can lead to your representatives to forget about the people's wants and needs. The must not forget. Do not elect someone who will forget, or you will be used, as your town is also used for one's personal gain. How your money will be spent should be your PRIMARY concern when voting. Your town needs you to make the right choices. Do what's right.

The job of the electorate is NEVER finished.

Attend Town Board meetings. Voice your concerns. Write letters to the editor. Know the role and responsibilities of the elected officials under the enabling laws. Talk about civic affairs with your friends and neighbors. Call your Town Board members at home. Stop them on the street to discuss issues.

For some real fun, know more factual information about the issues and the role and responsibility of local government than your Town Board members, and make sure they know it. It keeps them honest, and at times appropriately nervous.

Remember - they work for you, not the other way around.

When you've had enough of the current board members, run for office yourself. Things will only get better if those capable of improvements step up to make a difference. Despite what the Republicrats or Democrans would have you believe, political party affiliation at the local level is irrelevant. Knowledge of the issues and the willingness to actually address them is what matters.

And, for Dog's sake - VOTE.
Whitford

In today's Times of Ti, Whitford has outlined his plan for Ti; "raise taxes". I cannot fathom how he could promote such an idea. I am not making any return on my savings and cannot afford the taxes they charge me now. Please reconsider Mr Whitford, I am poor and do not want to lose my home to pay for your ambitious plan.

I suspect he's promoting the idea because he believes that raising revenues rather than further cutting services is the more responsible policy standpoint if we are to reduce Town debt.

And I also suspect he'll learn at the polls that the majority of the voters disagree with him.

From the public notices published in the Times of Ti, it appears that the decisions to move forward on the wells as a water supply source have already been irrevocably made by the Town Board.

Perhaps B. Grinnell should find another issue to campaign on.

Nothing is "irrevocable." And the sooner the taxpayers figure that out, the better. In the meantime, the screwing of the taxpayers continues!

Read these:

Mr. Grinnell is an accomplished and intelligent man. I'm sure he's read these himself as part of his own research on the water supply issues.

It appears that these documents and legally binding agreements set in place the course of action that the Town Board is currently following.

I'd like to know if he's aware of any municipality that has successfully walked away from a similar stipulated agreement with both NYS and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Lets see Bill G. supports idea of town manager. If he thinks a town manager is needed then it sounds like he can do the position to start with.I do believe that is what the supervisors position is to start with.Besides if the town hires a manager it puts the town into a different tax bracket which in-turns raises the taxes of the towns people (HMMM) food for thought.

Lets see Debbie M. signs off on the wayne ave. and St.Clair street project, which relieves the company who did it from back lash if it was right to start with.Guess what catch basins and manhole covers were not set right. So town has to fork out more cash to set things proper before top coating roads. Who coughed up the cash tax payers .

Wayne T. thinks it's a good idea to join all the departments with one person to over see, so this means hiring another person for this position I believe Jim K. supports this idea also . So highway super is no longer needed so that voted position is removed from the tax payers hands if they don't do a good job. Can't replace him in 4 years for some one who does do the job( not kicking stones at Mike does his job well) Point being made is who's relative of the town board or board member is bunking for this position. point is think before you vote and read between the lines.

Kinda makes "None of the Above" look like a viable candidate, don't it?

Don't worry, Ticonderoga. Perhaps one day someone will run that knows how to run a town. I would like to run to represent you, however I could not find the time to put together a campaign this election, and although, running for you all would be an honor, I would like to spend more time talking with you about current issues in this town, so that if I am granted the honor of representing you, I can do so accordingly. As for now, please vote for who will represent you the best, and for who will do the least amount of damage to this town's well being and reputation. Thank you, and happy voting!
