As a retired County employee, Iím forced to live on a measly $177,000 County retirement a year now. In 10 years I can file for Social Security too. How did I do it? Simple, just work your last year as double shifts. Have someone else punch your time card and wow, what a check youíll get and what a retirement based on the last yearís wages.(nobody says anything as their date draws near)The free health insurance is great too. Thanks taxpayers and if an increase comes your way, think of me.(Psssst..this is common)
This is quite funny but really does not address a real concern. Should you have proof of what you say that would help. We are trying to survive but it getting much too difficult. Who wants to leave their home. What does that leave in your town to support these social service programs and abuses. I agree with pushing town officials hoping for a response that moves us better financially.

What the County AND the Town of Ticonderoga isn't telling you is this fact. Ti has a very large number of people on the welfare rolls. Period. Higher even than surrounding towns, and towns in other nearby counties.

Then,, there is the issue of people leaving Ticonderoga for good and for a lot of different reasons. Crime, drugs, lot of slumlords, a very weak public school, overtaxation (vs. services), Very few good medical practitioners, and some good ones are aging fast. No grocery store. Generally, not a good place to raise a family at all.

And yet, they're "adding" to the school in all kinds of expensive ways. Special Education program has always been the weak link and no end in sight. A very large, expensive police department who basically just chases around repeat offenders that the judges keep putting back on the street. A completely useless building inspection department. And, for how long now has the Highway Dept. been a very costly MESS?

Having said all that, the taxpayers deserve to know the figures re: All information, number, dollars, names, etc. that is being spent of welfare programs. It is 2014 and why can't we find this information on a Town website?! Why?
