how is it that unlicensed drivers get away with driving on our roads when we have such an upstanding police department. hmmmm yet another unsolved issue in ti. There has been on particular cobalt cruising all the time and no license in the car. thanks for putting our hard earned taxes to work.

Because seizing the car is no longer advised, people have been able to use the 4th amendment to fight the seizure...(so they don't bother). I think they should do it - if the license isn't valid the insurance isn't valid and at least until they can redeem the car they're off the road... for some reason the authorities seem to do anything to keep from having to go to court. I could be wrong, just my opinion.

Just because a driver of a vehicle doesn't have a license it doesn't mean the vehicle isn't valid to be on the road. Some people are given conditional licenses to travel back and forth to work and a limited amount of time to shop for essentials. Many of the unlicensed offenders drive vehicles that are insured and registered in their spouses or family members names.

If someone allows an unlicensed driver to drive their car, the car should be impounded. Again this is an opinion. Insurance companies do not cover unlicensed drivers, regardless of who owns a vehicle. People with conditional licenses are 'valid' drivers but this should be noted in the blotter, because it has the appearance of impropriety. I understand that some vehicles may be 'legally' registered to others, but I know that is sometimes done in an effort to circumvent state laws.

Simple as this. The police are tired of writing tickets and/or arresting people when the judges throw out so many cases or give slaps on the wrist, EVEN for repeat offenders.

The JUDGES are the problem. Not to mention the DA!
