More jobs

Ticonderoga, NY

I hope our new town board thinks long and hard about letting NCCC take over this building. Gov Cuomo just started tax free NY to new businesses. I would hope that building would be filled with a new business that pays no taxes for 10 years and puts more jobs into the community. A tech center will not create jobs. It will train people who won't find jobs locally. Please don't put a training center in a building that has great potential to provide many jobs to this community. It s a bad idea.

However, if no one wants to open a business there, then the college using the building is better then it sitting vacant.

Again. Vocational training is better than banging heroin right. Shortsighted.

Vocational training isn't going to do any good when the people banging heroin can't and won't go to the school anyways. The LAST thing we need is a tech lab in Ticonderoga. While most businesses fail in this town we need something for the kids. I'm a product of the 80's. I know that it would be very hard to give something to the kids without anyone else ruining it. BUT it we don't try nothing will EVER happen. We as the "good" part of town need to stand for what's right. I guess my dreams are a bit off than others. Oh well....Lets put a tech lab in..maybe then we can start cooking meth right in the labs.......

Hahaha, Meth would be better prepared in a Chemistry Lab, not a Tech Lab you idiot. People now a days see the word "Lab" and automatically think meth. I have never, nor will I ever make/use meth, but anyone with common sense would know that it isn't made in a TECH Lab.

And why can't it be made it a tech lab? Why does one think it would be just all computers and construction stuff for a tech lab? Science isn't considered some sort of tech? no? huh....

"Jim Major, chairman of the Ticonderoga Revitalization Alliance board of directors, said the education center could bring students to Ticonderoga to study carpentry, plumbing, electrical trades, engineering, auto body work, diesel mechanics, marine technology and more."

It is a TECHNOLOGY LAB. You are an idiot... just accept it.

And before you expand your invalid argument on the "and more" part, please know that Chemistry is not a sector of science that would correlate with the technologies named above.

LOL you live in such a fantasy world. This should be fun. I'm an idiot? Your the one arguing with someone on the INTERNET. This is why I troll you people. From the proven past around this area it's bound to fail. Why don't we just wait and see what happens. If it's not meth. Some kid on meth gonna chop his finger off in the TECHNOLOGY LAB. LOL I couldn't care less about what that place is going to be. It's funny to see people like you get upset when someone says their OPINION. You must be one of those duck dynasty lovers too.go back into the woods and make that meth...since your from mineville.

More students will just be "cycling through" , it's all a nice concept, but,,,,, I'm thinking a couple stores in that building might provide good jobs so all of our kids won't leave to work somewhere else, like the ones the "tech lab" trains! We need some decent jobs to keep people living here, The three main groups here now are Summer people,Old retired people,And lazy non-contributory people,We need young people to work here and raise families, not get trained to do it somewhere else.

As much as anyone, I would like to see Ti be what it once was. Having said that, I think we should not romanticize Ticonderoga too much. After all, it is a mill town and always has been. We had a downtown until Walmart came. I don't believe it will be back. Too many out-of-towners with their fingers in things.(As opposed to people who were born here and have a TRUE and deep appreciation for our hometown.) We had a decent hospital once, too, but not in decades. Almost all of the good doctors and dentists etc. moved on long, long ago or have retired or died. There's not even a grocery store here any more, and that's not going to change any time soon.

And speaking of education, it's a wonder that NCCC followed through and built and extension of their campus here because the then-President of the college was treated with such utter disrespect and hostility by a "town representative." Why? Because of WHERE NCCC proposed to construct their building originally.(That is one of Ti's classic good-ole-boy stories.)

People send their children out of town and TELL THEM to go live somewhere else. I don't know anyone who has told their children to go get an education and then come back. No one. There are real and valid reasons for that.

Another big box store? Why not.

I agree we need to jobs for these young people that see survival in selling drugs and living off the welfare system of Essex County. They now have children that will follow the same path. I think the vocational training is great but isn't that what CV-Tech already does. Let's get this town back to work and put some paychecks back into the hands of those that need it. We are losing this town fast and you leaders better wake up.
