Why did DPW plow 1/8 inch of snow?
Editor:
This morning (Nov. 26), Glens Falls received no more than a dusting of overnight snow, yet the city snowplows have been out all morning, pushing around no more than 1/8 inch of snow. What a waste of effort and taxpayer money! Besides, this unnecessary plowing on streets that already are practically snow-free creates potholes, which will necessitate more street repairs than would otherwise be necessary come springtime.
DPW should be using their budgeted dollars more wisely than this!

It could have possibly been because they did not want the "road to freeze" and have a LAWSUIT because, "no one would have wanted it plowed"..
Maybe, that is why they plowed it!!!!??!!

Who knows, I don't...Just a wild guess!!!

HAVE A "GOOD DAY"!!!

Maybe if you had a job where you are commuting home an hour at the midnight hour you would understand why they are salting the roads.

There's a lot of money town management wastes on paying for plowing and salting for a dusting of snow, including supplies and overtime. Money is also wasted plowing side walks when the temperature is predicted to rise well into 40's with bright sunshine. Actually that happened last year, so in all fairness that timing must be stated.
It was still a bad decision and tax dollars were spent unnecessarily.
WASTED MONEY has a legitimate gripe. We are also coming off a term of town leadership with a supervisor who wasn't qualified to lead, and although she's a charming lady she isn't going to go down in history for making great management decisions.
I won't keep criticizing, though.
Let's just see how the new guy does!

I walk to the post office and downtown daily and depend on the side walks being clear and safe. You can't wait for the sun to melt the snow late in the afternoon!!! Many people depend on the sidewalks being passable before 12 or 1:00!!!

Hey, "I vote". What does the past Supervisor or the present one have to do with plowing, salting, supplies or overtime for highway!!! He s an elected official and totally independent; certainly not subject to the Supervisor.

I do live in ticonderoga, everyone knows that winter is coming 8 months in advance. there is now reason people can't purchase snow tires or studded snow tires . So the local towns highway depatments don't have to take a beating plowing and sanding roads when a inch or two of snow falls , just because people think all season tire will work in the winter. think of how much money can be saved in the townships if people would use their heads besides a hat rack . I also enjoy replacing my vehicals from premature rotting because of all the salt and chemicals spread on the roads
Just Wondering
