Tread ways went up in price by five cents or more the day before the storm. Everyone knows the price should be going down. Sure, great time for him to take advantage of making $$$$$$$$$ as everyone was filling their gas cans and vehicles wasn't it? Day after storm he is back down to $3.77. Not going there anymore...will go to Jay's and traveling just a bit further to do so. He can take his gas and stick it where the sun doesn't shine.

He runs a business. He can charge what he wants. It is up to the individual if they want to pay the asking price. Quit your bitching.

He raised it 5 cents again this Friday for the holiday weekend. It is not negative on anyone's part but his. I will go elsewhere this weekend for gas. Shame on him for treating locals like this.

All you gotta do is take your business somewhere else. But remember these businesses in the middle of winter when there are no tourists around. Maybe then they'll learn.

As stated in earlier post, it is his business and he is free to charge retail based on the cost. Now, raising or "gouging" in conjunction with a situation that will have a run on gasoline is unethical. He is the one that has to sleep at night. I would certainly remember that the next time I go to buy gasoline.

I now go to Stewarts all the time. The reason I stopped going to Treadways was because several times I would try to pay at pump, but had to go inside. Then, they had problems with their credit card machine. Much more convenient at Stewarts. I don't want to pay a foreigner and the $ stays in a NY company.

The only real way to protest these greedy people is through the power of the dollar!

There is a set profit he can charge. This may go up and down but only when a new shipment of fuel is delivered. I once ran a gas station you cannot raise the price until the fuel is gone.

That's true if you are honest. If you were talking about Jay, that's the way he operates, and he's honest. But let's face it, Treadway doesn't operate that way!!!!! I know it and lots of other people know it!!!!

Are you sure that is the case? I thought it was up to the retailer and supply and demand on what he can charge. Why is the gas station right before you get on the northway outside of Westport always .15-.25 higher than anywhere else? He is the only one around and if someone needs gas in that desolate area they will pay the price.

It also depends on location. Does the delivery cost more to go there? There are other things that can change the price. But when you have a station that changes the price for a day or two then drops it down you have PRICE GOUGING!! When i ran my gas station in the 90's there were law's regulating how much profit you can make. I will say that at times i made only 2-3 cents per gallon .

Thx for info. That is another reason that I say if people bought it elsewhere if would hurt him. A very little profit margin. He needs volume to make $$$
