@ Wrong Again..you're absolutely right. This does require a public hearing. What its rigged was saying was that it requires a public vote. Which it doesn't. To actually have a public vote on it would be a violation of state law.

Nope. Local zoning is a "home rule" matter, entirely up to the Town Board.

Once again, it has been proven that this town will never move forward because it is inhabited by a bunch of uneducated, welfare receiving, pajama wearing, property rights advocates (and by that I mean being able to keep all of your old washers, dryers, toilets and cars in your front yard). You people are so backward thinking that nothing will make you understand progress. Nobody wanted a Target on the Lake. That isn't what was being proposed but you will believe what you want to believe. Unreal.

Who said anything about Target on the lake, I was stating motels, restaurant, and in the wind something about a golf course up that way. Keep the lake front property residential not commercial. The down town area needs to be where business is focused not spread out all over the town.

What you're forgetting, is rigged, is that the "lakefront" zone -is not just on Lake George-. It's also on Lake Champlain and Eagle Lake. If you'd have bothered to read the proposal, you'd know that. Heck, all you had to do is look at the map. I did.

Frankly, I'm tired of elitists thinking that Lake George is theirs, and nobody else should be allowed to use the shoreline. What's wrong with a bed and breakfast on Lake George, or any other lake in the proposed zone?

I would be against commercial property on Eagle Lake also, Lake Champlain I really don't care as much as the other 2, that lake isn't as clean with all the pollution that's running in anyways. The main concern I would have with Eagle lake ,and lake George(west side) would be sewer issues running into it.Besides that the majority of the property owners on both sides of the lake bought for relaxation and peace. Last thing I wouldn't want is a restaurant or motel next to a place I bought for relaxation. No I don't own next to either lake. But I do relate the people who do own.

There are already several camps on Lake George that are rented out by the week every summer. This has been going on for generations.

I also know that some of the long-time property owners are putting on additions or adding buildings on their property for the money--to help pay the taxes.(Some of those families don't have the money that they used to, so they rent out in order to keep their property.)

Of course you don't want commercial business on the lake! God forbid it brings in tourism and helps the tax base that you all bitch about! Why would we want that? No lets not promote tourism and make the town prosper. Lets keep it quiet and ten complain about taxes that you can't afford and wonder why your being drivin out of your homes!!! hmmmm

First, this is true. Some of the Heart Bay property owners operate several camps on Lake George.

So, is that what this is really about? MORE commercial businesses on the lakes to profit the "long-time" property owners? They don't have enough money already?

Who will truly profit from these proposed commercial enterprises ?

It won't be a cut in anyones taxes that's for sure. You can't say it will help tax base never seen a drop in taxes when walmart came in or lowes taxes still go up. Just some people get some fringe benefits at their houses. Just like when best western started, how funny that the notices never got mailed out by Carol A. and Bob D. covered it up.

Didn't say anything about not wanting the best western, just was stating that somethings get slid through under the radar. Not sure if they got the 10 yr tax break which it shouldn't ,because of prior motel being on sight.

There are development strategies that can increase tax bases while reducing costs. Until such concepts are learned, ACCEPTED and adopted, the hemoraging will continue.

Which project idea? Please be specific, as Majors is a busy man with a lot of ideas he's currently working on.

Indeed. What project are you referring to? This proposed zoning law? Wasn't his idea. This "project" started way back with Brick Howe.

Majors is merely a very vocal person who supports it. Doesn't make it his idea.
