Want to take train to Ticonderoga for 2 for 1 special. Looks like fun. But when we get there, there is no place to rent a car. Any ideas?

closes to a car rental place would be middlebury, vt just a half hour away from here. you could take a local taxi over. prearrange for a pick up.

Thanks, That's the first helpful advice I've received. I spoke to the taxi company and they said it was an hour away and they didn't go that far. I will do a MapQuest and call again.

I know many of the local cab owners will take customers to their appointments which most are out of town such as Plattsburgh or Glens Falls which are 1 hr. away. You could be drop off the train at Glens Falls and Plattsburgh who have many rental car options. Those city's are close to many of Adirondack's Beautiful nature sites.

The County/taxpayers pay taxis to drive people to their out-of-town appointments. S.S. Doctors. And to rehab. Etc.
And everywhere they can spend your tax dollars!

Just wanted you to know that I contacted the Enterprise in Middlebury. They do pick up at the train station but it is $20 each way. You can negotiate. AND they are not open weekends at all, so it must be Mon thru Fri. Had to extend my weekend by a day.
