Isn't over serving alcohol (to someone who is visibly drunk) illegal in NYS?

The ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE CONTROL (ABC) Section 65.2 prohibits the sale, delivery or giving away of an alcoholic beverage to an intoxicated person.

Where I tend bar, if he has money, he gets served and I don't care how many people he kills on the way home. If he kills himself, I have some 2 x 4s in the back so we can make a nice roadside cross to put along the road. Memories never fade that way.

Does law enforcement ever set up "stings" to control this issue. This is a BIG problem and a tragedy waiting to happen. Again.

There's no need for a 12 hour plane ride to N. Korea since Sharia Law is on the way. Then, if your lips touch booze, they can cut them off !!

Serving when patrons are drunk, contributes to the deaths of young people on local roads. Then they must have a wooden cross by the spot where they were killed, as if they attended church. Take the crosses down and put up the memorial on your fireplace mantle.

I suppose we could change it: Bars can serve anyone any amount that they are willing to buy.

There are always civil lawsuits. My cousin's husband was overserved in two different bars. We will never know why--it wasn't anything that he did on a regular basis by any means. But, he did the day of the accident. And no one will ever know why because he "lives" in a persistent vegetative state. My cousin (by marriage) sued both bars and has million of dollars, after a long process of legal negotiation. But, her kids have no father, and she has no answers. Very sad indeed.

As for me, I believe that I would be very angry if some place overserved someone who then killed someone I loved. No one needs that one extra drink (or more), and no place needs that extra couple of bucks.

Maybe, when it comes to the drug called alcohol, we should all take some responsibility.

Its really not the bar or tenders fault if you or your loved one has a problem. They need to seek help and not in a bar . If you are that upset maybe you should help them help them self.
Not everyone

Not everyone who gets drunk on a single occasion has "a problem." Although, I agree that there are a lot, lot, lot of drunks in Ticonderoga.

The problem is that it only takes once to kill someone else, or yourself.

I would think that the owners and employees of bar would want everyone to be safe. One (just one) way to help keep people safe is to not serve someone who is clearly drunk.

I will also agree that the people of Ti are not really interested in helping one another, or helping to take care of one another. Sad little place.

Yes, there is always hope. But, it is also foolish to not be realistic. Ticonderoga, and Essex County, has a major alcohol abuse problem in general.

And, I don't see the people (our great leaders, authority figures, law enforcement, etc.) stepping up to the plate to...well do anything meaningful about it.

In the meantime, people die and die and die.

Maybe, just maybe, if ONE of those people took a stand by making a statement. Just one thing. Like: "There is a big difference between recreational alcohol use IN A SAFE SETTING, and alcohol abuse."

But no, nobody is willing to do even that. WHY is that, do you think??

Well you raise a good point about taking responsibility. If an individual has a problem with alcohol they need to face it and want to get sober. The rest of us need to learn not to enable the alcoholic. I have lost a loved one, three friends jumped in a car one night and one never made it home. Practice what you preach and offer the patience and understanding and hope for these very sick people. Its the holiday season lets spread peace, love and joy NOT HATE.
Hate and PC

There is a BIG difference between hate and Potitical Correctness.

We've become such PC idiots that we've have MADE OURSELVES AFRAID to take on the tough issues. Alcoholism is a "disease"--don't give them a bad time. Don't "hate" them. Blah, blah, blah.

There are people who DO NOT CARE if they have a "disease" or are, in their way of thinking, just "having a good time." And, they don't want you or me to bring up how destructive their way of life is.

It is only when an innocent person dies that people just up and scream...then they all seem to get amnesia.(In the meantime, other people will do their damn best to further victimize the victim by assinating their character.)

Be of some use.(As opposed to useless.) DO SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE this holiday. Demand that the authorities do their job, and more, because the drunks will be out "having a good time."

Keep your children safe!

Heard from several people that the Pub was serving people who were way past drunk last weekend. AGAIN!!

I think the police should set up shop all over that entire area every weekend.

Or, folks, are we going to wait until someone is killed again???

People drunk at the local bar in the Adirondacks? How unheard of! Obsurd!

And you would be the first one marching in protest--not to mention filing a lawsuit--if a drunk driver killed someone you care about.

Leave your redneck mentality in the 20th century, as most thinking people have.

As for the police, it sounds like a GREAT source of revenue for the town--get on it P.D.!!!

Who cares what or who the bars and bartenders serve and how much. TAKE RESPONSIBILTY for your own actions and not blame someone else. Oh I just got in an accident, the bartender knew I was druck and served me anyway, I think I'll blame them, sue them and make some money because I was was an ***hole. NOT. Let the cops do their job and keep drunks off the street. It is not the job of the bartender to be your mommy and daddy. Then Bedbug said drucks kill young people, HELLO, are they the only ones?

Two things:

1) Yes! Revenue for the Town/P.D.!! Let them earn their keep.

2) Lawsuits. It happens every day. Because there *are* laws in NY regarding overserving.

From what I hear, I believe this issue is primarily with
the BAR MENTIONED. Hmmm...

THIS could be any one of our family members. So, go ahead and make jokes about drunk drivers and the people who enable and serve them. Go ahead!
