The board's minutes are available for all to read on the town website, you can see what was actually said, and not said.
Anyone realize we have a transfer station, not a landfill? I remember the "loss" at the transfer station was brought up a few past years' budgets but the board members did not agree that there was a loss. But the rates were raised anyway since they had not been in years, and there is the same exact amount of loss? Why not switch to a different system which would save money?
What happened at the August meeting was they heard a presentation from a rep of a company that runs all the transfer stations in Washington County, where they face similar problems, and when they 'took over' they kept nearly all the employees and did not raise fees. Now we can discuss the issue with facts.

I do not know the proposed arrangements the company presented but I do know most of the companies do keep the present employees already working at least temporarily.I do know the company now running the transfer station in Crown Point does not own the property,it is leased therefore they pay the town to run their business.I also know that the rates went up once the company took over to dispose of our trash.I do not know if the arrangement actually saved the taxpayers on their taxes but if they used the "station" they paid more. Also the company brought in there own employees after awhile who were not local. Is it a win situation for the town as a whole, maybe when it comes to payroll and expenditures to run it,but is it good for the individuals who use it?

About forgetting common sense: This is WHY we must remember past follies (aka mistakes). These mistakes cost the town's residents a lot of money. A lot of money! There was more than one lawsuit, etc. And those mentioned are just the "mistakes" that we know about. Hmmm...

The fact that this has been an "issue" for 10 years is ridiculous! Like, how many idiots does it take to screw in a light bulb kind of stupidity.

This town needs a BUSINESS MANAGER. Like so many other towns and cities have hired. The 19th century political system doesn't work in the 21st century. And, it's not going to get any better. We don't need a "supervisor."

In the meantime, there was once a committee of folks who were overseeing the town board/supervisor/planning board etc. with respect to these issues. I know that some have moved and some have passed on, but we REALLY, REALLY need some Ticonderoga taxpayer oversight.
(If you do not pay taxes in Ticonderoga, stay out of it; there are enough problems already!)

Why look back. Any idea the cost of the water project. Still no decisive direction on this. This problem was presented to the town during Mike Connery's era. Dedrick had it also. 15 years later it's a do or die Board of Health issue for the present admin. Second violation for highway with no one stepping forward to take responsibility.$86,000 is what your told.$40,000 settlement is again a fraction of the total bill to the town when it's finally over. New tanks, pipe and pavement are just some ites not in the fine. Again, why look back. Town manager a great idea.

There is no landfill. It is a transfer station. They pay to have it hauled away anyways. Maybe we can get Topix hauled away.

Our current administration are magicians, every thing is done with smoke and mirrors. They rob Peter to pay Paul and try to hide the loss of their screw ups. Lets get a business person in office who can straighten this mess out!!!

Other towns are not losing money on their transfer stations. Ti must be doing something wrong if they lost $30,000 there last year. Some other towns privatized their transfer stations long ago.

You can't make a big profit if you have Tony Soprano overseeing garbage operations.

Just want to say this forum went from vindictive to informative. Many of the posts lately have been right to the point and mostly accurate. You can not open books you do not have. So much documentation has just vanished it is hard to even know who actually thought these idea's up. We need to move forward from here, not look back.

Maybe, maybe not. If documentation has vanished, as you alleged, THEN there should be a report made and an investigation! Everyone should be questioned and questioned again.

We won't moved "forward" until we know what happened, FIRST!
