This topix site is used for alot of meaningless harm brought on people from their peers. Use it for something positive. If you know of a drug dealer in our area who is endangering our community, children and bringing city pack mules into our town, I urge you to have the courage to post their name.... Lets start a war on drugs in our community. Make sure it is absolute, don't drop a name for the sake of rumor milling.

The police already KNOW who many of these drug deaers are. It is, of course, a matter of gathering evidence. Sometimes getting people to do what they call "rat" on drug dealers.

BUT, I think a big part of the problem is that there are no real conseuqences for dealing. Think about it! How many of the dealers who are caught have either a prior history of convinction, or have been known to be dealing for years?

The problem is the D.A. and the judges are TOO SOFT ON DRUG CRIME. The community has been screaming it for years! Plea bargains? Even for repeat offenders???

I think we need to THINK ABOUT THIS ISSUE ALONE before we VOTE the next time.

P.S. A judge DOES NOT have to accept a proposed plea deal from the D.A.'s office. Just saying.

I think someone started this thread with the intention of doing good--opening a conversation about a big problem in our community.

And then....there ALWAYS has to be a few @ssholes that just really don't want anyone to do any good. And people wonder why so many good families move away...

The problem is people are going about it all wrong. We already learned that prohibition doesn't work. The "war on drugs" isn't working either. It's a big sham. It's no secret, drug addiction effs up your life. But does anyone have any right to tell anyone else what they can and cant do to their OWN bodies?

To all the people on here claiming that our streets are filled with drug dealers: Go out and actually try finding illegal drugs some night and I bet you anything that you'll fail miserably.

If you've never done any drugs then just SHUT UP YOU MORONS...
If you don't know dick about something then don't comment on it and don't vote about it

You have to look in the bathrooms of our local convenient stores.
What I saw

Middlebury, VT

#12 Jul 19, 2012
I once saw a drug deal take place in the parking lot next to where the Two Bros. market was. And I saw another one behind where Rite Aid was. I saw someone buy beer in Rite Aid (before it moved) and take it directly across the street and hand it to some kids--they were definitely not 21.

I then stopped trying to take my kids for walks down Montcalm Street, or the Interpretive Trail or the park, where I've seen underage drinking, too.

I know what I saw.

Like I said - It's no secret that drugs will mess up your life. You're right, accidents happen and it affects the community. Sure it's everyones business now and it's becoming an epidemic or whatever, but if anything that just shows you that the current methods aren't working. First of all - In a free country, the government shouldn't have the right to tell you what you can and can't do to your own body. Second - People who are blaming the drugs are fighting a losing battle. It's not the drugs that cause all the accidents and crap. It's people's bad decision making and the only way to change that is to start educating more, and getting real about the facts on drugs.
What about DUI

San Diego, CA

#19 Jul 29, 2012
Will "education" help reduce DUI? No. So, should the government tell us WHEN we can do what we want to with our bodies? I think somebody better, because they are a lot of very stupid people out there!

Personally, I don't want to lose any of my children or grandchildren, especially to a total idiot!!!(Who probably had parents and grandparents who were substance abuses and total idiots, to begin with)

don't get all judgemental here. Drug addicts come from all walks of life. Not all of them are just the "stupid idiots." What I'm saying is that regulation would be the better move. You're right, the gov't SHOULD govern the hows and whens and under what circumstances. just don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining, you dig?

i meant the last part to be directed toward the gov't... not to anyone in particular. ...this is just a discussion, so there's no need for anyone to get upset. im not one of those anti-government anrchists or w.e. ... i just think there are better ways to handle certain problems.
