Grille

San Diego, CA

We were going to the Grille. Picked a very bad night to try. They had a bar band Screaming. As in noise pollution!
We left and all agreed to go out of town although we like to do business locally if possible.

None of these places are bad, or very good either. Food is okay, prices are okay, if you don't want to travel. BUT, the music that some of these places bring in is pretty bad and always has been. We always avoid music night.

Libby's Bakery Cafe has mediocre food, runs out of popular items mid-day, and the owners have a superior attitude. The prices are OK, though. They claimed in the newspaper they have nothing to do with the NCCC dorms above the bakery, but Saturday, Aug. 24 is a tour of the two places and mention that students will work at the bakery.

Beware they are clueless about food allergies. I asked if a pastry contained peanuts as my daughter is allergic, they said no. I bought four, which incidentally was the only thing in the display case at 1145. I brought the goodies home and thank god I ate part of the first one it had pecans!!!!! I called and spoke with the owner who said wellll you asked if it had peanuts not pecans. If you're going to be in the food service business you should have a bit of food service knowledge

I heard some nearby residents complaining about that. Said it was horrible. Better pick better music or no music. I think no music, or at least keep in inside!!

A dabbler. This business, that business. But doesn't know anything about running this business, for sure. It's been a debacle, and yeh, people were annoyed for sure. How rude.

Yes. After 10pm, the noise must be reduced below a certain decibel. You can call the cops to have them issue a warning or fine but if the cops know the person you are reporting, nothing will happen. I speak from experience.

Yes, there is a noise ordinance in Ti, but residents in certain neighborhoods haven't had much luck getting it enforced. fyi

I'm wondering what exactly are people thinking when they subject neighbors to their own likings. Rude indeed.

I believe it. Are they going to enforce the law when the offender is a local "business owner?" Probably not.

I can also understand why the neighborhood was upset. It was just raucous.

Wouldn't a business need a permit to hold an outdoor concert?

Some food at CC is good(pub food) but for a dinner I would go elsewhere. The noise at the firehouse has kept me out for 4 years so I could not comment on the quality. They really need to do something with the acoustics. I have eaten at the Marketplace in BL a few times and I find the food very good(its a bit pricey). Also like La Bistro in Westport.

The quality of the food is about the same. The acoustics at the Firehouse could be altered by a good contractor. I like the people there better. At least they haven't brought in any 'bar bands' as far as I know. The Grille is the size of a postage stamp and it just feels cramped. I don't know what they're thinking with the music thing. Wrong venue. Try BL, LG or LP for something different.

I agree. They are all really bars with food as an option. Regular American fare. And nothing at all special about decor or view. Yes, noisy. Given all of the above, somewhat overpriced.

The firehouse is nasty. It's gross. The grille is just ok. Never go either one again. The best western is great if you like pub food cuz the rest sucks. Tipi rest is the best but now they close on Tuesdays during the winter. Are day is Tuesday to go out so we go to vermont. and then catch there ti pi prime rib on Friday nights! The sandwich shop on Mai street is overpriced for what you get but it's good.
