You are so right! Take a drive to appreciate the beauty! The community is trying, the activities are still limited but if you go to the Heritage museum or the Hancock house to see the artists who have captured moments it is amazing! Then Fort Ti has opened up so much! Yes it has a lot to offer!

It is a beautiful and caring community. If we practice love and compassion we will get love and compassion. If we sow negativity, we will have it returned to us. Make the decision to practice compassion and fill your lives with peace!

Thanks for the nice responses! I knew I wasn't alone! I figured the topix should be for sharing ideas about activities or good things. Lets keep it going!

A good discussion! Should Crown Point close its school and merge with Ticonderoga school? Like Hague did. Bus the students to Ti. Then, pay only one superintendent, cut staff and save the taxpayers a lot of money. Then, maybe there would be some extra money for student activities. What do you think?

I think that if I were a parent with a child in the CP school system I would disagree.
I think CP has been growing in the right direction and offers programs that meet the needs in that community. By joining , it creates new issues that even saving money
Doesn't justify, Good discussion though.

Better do the math on that one, with only one tenth of the student pop. in T.C.S.Hague pays 51% of the tax levy! That works out to about 90 grand per child for them! Of course you could just ask a Hague resident annd they will no doubt give you an earful!

I would rather pay my Crown Point school taxes than send my grandchildren to Ticonderoga.Transportation costs alone will eat up any great savings, especially for the parents of the "involved" students who participate in the extracurricular activities. Can Ticonderoga absorb all of the Crown Point student population without having to add-on more classrooms and or buildings? I seriously doubt it which means more taxpayer monies being needed.Regardless I would rather keep our school, our staff and our administration. The students are performing better on the state tests so the "TEAM" at CPCS must be doing something right.

I agree. I think what others have said is spot on. I also know many Hague residents (and some who have passed on) who greatly regretted that decision. I know Putnam residents are hanging on tightly to their school.

However, there seems to be some people out there who think merging C.P. into the Ti school district is a great idea for so many "reasons"--I myself don't think so, and I don't understand their "reasoning." Beware, I have seen this done in other places, despite all good sense because some people never stopped playing political games to get their way.

And, which school's students got the better test scores?

Good discussion!

Mrs. Brannocks record attests to her obvious skill as a competent manager.Don't let T.C.S. systems "royalty" steal an important part of your identity!Keep your school,it's a good one.

Go to the meetings or look at the merger study on either school's website. This will not be like Hague. Hague was mandated to consolidate the high school and voted to consolidate the K-8. This is a merger. The study suggest not calling it Ticonderoga or Crown Point. No Sentinel or Panther mascots and No purple and white or black and white but instead all of them being neutral. This will be a blended school district not a school district swallowing up another. Crown Point school is not without it's faults but it is much easier to deal with and much easier to handle things early. If the vote gets to the public. Hague people Crown Point would appreciate you voting no. There is a proposed lessening of taxes for a few years. Oh yeah and Hague for first year is a savings of LESS than 1% and guess where that will be by the third year.Voters please send a clear message if this gets to the public vote. VOTE NO.....

Took a walk down by the Lachute pathway and saw a lot of clearing happening down there. Looks like some old foundations, The clearing project gives nice view of the water now. Check it out!
