MOREAU -- Two teens were killed and another injured in a one-car crash Wednesday afternoon on Route 32, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
Matthew J. Habshi, 17, of Gansevoort, and Brianna A. Diorio, 15, of 45 White Birch Estates in Gansevoort, were pronounced dead at the scene, police reported. Habshi lost control of his 1997 red Pontiac Trans Am while traveling north on Route 32, south of Fedor Road, at about 12:15 p.m., police said, when he failed to make it around a curve, leaving the roadway and striking a utility pole, which came down on the car. Brandon Nelson, 17, of 39 Sanders Road in Queensbury, was also riding in Habshi’s car at the time of the crash and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center for head injuries, police said. Nelson’s condition was not available as of 7 p.m., but a nurse at Albany Medical Center said an update would be available by 9:30 p.m. Speed is being considered as a cause of the crash, police said. Route 32 was closed for about four hours Wednesday afternoon. Gansevoort and South Glens Falls fire departments responded to the scene, along with the Moreau Emergency Squad, a crew from National Grid and officers from the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. |

what is wrong with teens these days driving fast, drinking, they must think they are cool till this happens.
|
||||
|
Wouldn't have happened had they been in school..give them another day off. Too many holidays.

Well it is sad that 2 people lost their lives. The driver of that car was the cause of the accident. It may sound mean but it is better for them to kill themselves rather than some other innocent person on the road. Kids will never learn, they read about this all the time and still don't learn.
True fact: speeding only gets you to your destination a few seconds earlier. It is shocking people will put their lives on the line for a few seconds. |
||||
Yea, sure it's the Holidays that get the kids killed....Duh |

R.I.P. kids not your fault fate is the score

Ever heard the saying "if you have nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all"? This is one of those times that it is better to keep your mouth shut rather than shoot it off. Did you for one second think of the parents of the girl that was an innocent passenger in that car? How would what you just said make you feel if you were the parent of any of those kids? |
||||
Have you never found yourself going around a curve too fast and almost losing control? It can happen to anyone! There was no mention of drinking in the article. Sometimes people need to just STFU and not reply if all you have is something mean to say. Think of the family and friends that might be reading what you write. Have a heart for once. |

These teens got into a car with a person they knew. It is safe to say they know how this person drive. I am sure this wasn't the first time they were speeding. They are not babies and they know what comes along with the risk of driving too fast. I do feel for the family and friends but I am glad no one else that had nothing to do with the equation got injured. I am sure these teen wasn't captured and held against their will. They voluntarily entered the vehicle and in which they probably knew the driver's habit. I wasn't saying anything bad, I am just putting the reality out there. Once again I feel for the family and friends because they have to suffer this senseless loss, but these type of accident can be voided. |

Teens lack of judgement is why they still need supervision. No teen and no family deserved this, its an accident, and any of us could have one. Even a cautious driver can make a mistake and take a corner too fast or misjudge...I am so sorry to the families and friends of those involved. Maybe we can all take a lesson from this and slow down, let he who has not sinned cast the first stone.

I do understand all of that. I am just saying there is a time and place for talk like that and this thread is NOT it. Like I said, it could happen to anyone. |

some of you people have no compassion nor heart.

I know the parents of one of the children that died.
For those of you that can't resist a slam let me tell you that speed is being considered along with many other reasons. It is under investigation!!!!!!! Meaning for the complete morons here that speed is considered not a given!!!!! They haven't said for sure what it was that caused the wreck. Wait to see the release to slam. Now leave these kids alone and stop saying they did things that you have no way of knowing that they did. |
