Two years and that was without tearing down a existing bridge.

No permits in hand yet for a ferry. Arrowheads held up Lowes for how many months? Good luck on seeing anything happen in a timely manner. Way to much paperwork. We will be surveying and studying this for a long time.

i think the historians and all those crap societies and government agencies in NY state should be DISBANDED!!!!! WASTE OF OUR $$$$! they cause others havoc only to justify their jobs. that goes for the APA (wait till they get their hands in this! and I bet the LGPC will try to step in too! how about the LGA and the executive directors!)

I predict the bridge building will be started in 2020, completed in 2030, open to pedestrian, bicycles, and horse-drawn buggies by 2040, open to one way traffic in 2050,and 2 way traffic in 2060 with only 2 lanes, not 4.
The toll will be 25 Euros since by then we will have a common world-wide currency. 45 people will fall off the bridge only to fall near ferries still in service. They, too, will be charged 25 Euros for the trip back and 100 Euros for the rescue. it will be named the Obama Bridge since they both fell apart the same year.

IMO - Time to get out of here while the getting is good. This has the potential to destroy the economy here. It will be the equivalent of the dust bowl days of the thirties. If anyone here knows their history, the Mid-West of this country was in a depression 10 years before the Great Depression hit. Property values plummeted and people had to abandon their homes and farms because no one would buy them. People who rent will be in a better position than people who own their own homes. They'll be able to pull up and go somewhere where they don't have to worry about getting laid off because of the sure to come mass layoffs in the local businesses. I'm sure businesses are going to fold left and right because of this too regardless of whether they bring in a ferry or not.

Thank You... I laughed so hard, it is nice to keep a sense of humor in these trying times. The sad thing is the way New York State operates you arent far off...

I can't wait to see the APA get involved once the State starts submitting the permits for the temporary Ferry landings. I'm sure they'll have a field days requiring the docks to fall within their standards to make the dock pleasing to the eye and looking how they want it to look. That should add a few months delay to the construction start on the Ferries. And I'm sure someone from the Historical Society will have something to say about the removal of the old bridge especially considering it is on the list of historical landmarks. There should be a bunch of red tape for that demolistion

Come on, Bill. You are well aware of the diastrous demolition George W. Bush did to our country (not the bridge) in 8 years. Don't try to blame Pres. O'Bama.

Bill, your tongue maybe firmly placed in cheek but the truthfulness of your statement is not lost on me. I do disagree that it will be the Euro. The Euro will fall as well as the dollar. The Chinese and Brazilians will determine the new currency.

A new film, " The Moldin` Gate Bridge" directed by Blow Bridges and starring his Brother, Jiffy Bridges, is being made in Crown Point. It is set in a rustic [rusty] setting with plenty of drama and no action. It is a very long movie and everyone will fall asleep waiting for the ending, which never comes. There is no love story in the movie. There is also a play now running on Broadway called "No View from the Bridge", starring Miss Scarred Nohandson. This bridge play is expected to run 40 years before they open the doors. Tickets are $1,000 each, which may be purchased at your nearest ferry crossing.

Damn, finally some humorous posts on this God-forsaken forum! LOL

How 'bout,
"A Bridge Blowout for Champ"
"Drop the Bridge, Dig a 'Chunnel'"
"New York, Vermont: Dithering
States"
"Landmark Crumbles"
"Horror: Economy Strangled in Essex County"
"1500 Jobs Piddled Away"
"Bumbling Bridge Builders"
"Isolated By Incompetence!"
"DOT, Damned Old Twits!"
"Galloping Gertie Of Champlain Valley!'
"Krakatoa: Crown Point Bridge"
"Millions Spent: Bridge Now Unsafe"
"Unsafe At Any Weight!"
"Old Bridge, No Boats Allowed!"
"Solutions: Huge Culvert In Middle, Tailings Pile On the Lakebed!"
"1500 Devastated Families"
"Champ, the Concrete Muncher!"

But, on a serious side, this will adversely impact our area for many months and likely many years.

Great work by wonderful and INCOMPETENT New York politicians and NYSDOT managers, engineers and inspectors!

I wonder whether Vermont has maintained that Bridge at ROuses Point as well as New York has done with the Champlain Bridge at Crown Point?

If you're busy with a last-minute Christmas shopping trip it will be easy to lose track of how much you're spending, particularly if you're in a panic and desperate to tick off every name on your list. However, you might be in for a nasty shock later on when you tot up the massive amount of money that you parted with. So try to keep a running total in your head or stick to a strict budget for each gift.
