Their are so-many cars from their we can not put our trash out on trash day and if we

be a P/O Homeowner. The internal revenue service should get involved with this
as the GEYSER st house is pulling in more than 15-20 THOUSAND A MONTH IN CASH
That Jenny scammed the owner out of peoples homes, geyser is not the only house, and she's looking for more homes! She runs this scam in the Valley with her family, together they run 5 houses and yes it's about 10 to 15 thousand they pull in per house and none of it is being declared to irs. They say its a legitimate business, but its not. They call it Casa Mia or Socalhousing or Entertainers Industry Launching pad. The only way to stop them is to stop and warn their potential victims, the tenants. Start by posting warning ads on craigslist under room shares in the San Fernando Valley. Also spread the word to those who are renting there homes to be on the look out of this gypsy family because they will be looking for another home to set up soon, they just lost the house at 17801 Donmetz, although there are still a few squatters there.
They still have the ones at 6437 Geyser

The government has to help the less fortunate with taxpayer money, because people are too greedy and selfish to do so on their own.

Unlicensed Group Homes should not be allowed in residential neighborhoods. There is no public benefit, they are for profit businesses, and they exploit the people who need help.
As a person in long time recovery (13+ years), As a Chemical Dependency Counselor, and as a former Residential Assistant to 3 different Quality Sober Living Homes and Clinical Director for a group of homes, our friend who believes these are FOR PROFIT businesses doesn't know the truth.
Sober Living Owners are ALWAYS allowing for exceptions and helping individuals who CAN'T pay and who PLAN on paying rent. Personally, whatever possible benefit is derived from AFTER all the bills are paid is usually less than a Minimum Wage job could pay.
Sober Livings are USUALLY a labor of love and meant to HELP people. If the owners/operators can make a little extra over expenses for thier time, then they deserve it.

God's will surely is not to force sober people out of their homes.

Yep. Those morons sneak out of the homes at night, and start roaming around the neighborhood looking for drugs and sex!

You are mistaken Mr. Dumont, I am a recovering addict with 16 years clean and these sober livings are BIG MONEY makers!! Quit trying to say that they are saving tax payers money! I pay property taxes and I don't want 25 addict men near my home!! I have children and I know that most men that are new in recovery are all pervs ... they get clean and their dicks get hard. When they try to hug you in a meeting they grope you and after they have been around for awhile they become old creeps! The owner of these sober livings prey upon a "manager" who has no where to go and no way of better themselves and what does the manager get? Free rent!! It's a glorified babysitting job and someone of a year clean is NOT an expert as to whether someone is using in the house. We all know how to pass a urine test!!

Shannon,

Congratulations on your 16 years and congratulations on paying your fair share of property taxes. Many people newer in recovery have alot of financial wreckage when they find sobriety and end up filing bankruptcy and avoiding other obligations such as child support. It is remarkable that you now pay property taxes. They are due again on April 11, 2011.

Raw math makes sober living homes sound lucrative or, as you put it "Big Money Makers". This thinking shows a lack of understanding of what is involved, and/or a belief that everything related to recovery should be non-profit.(Some of us do not own property or drive a BMW.) Ample evidence proves sober living homes save taxpayers money; the homes are self supporting through family member contributions and are not government funded. However, unlike the fellowships, some make a profit. This is neither illegal nor wrong.

It is interesting that you would find "25 addict men" unacceptable as neighbors. Would you find 25 addict women likewise unacceptable, or is this an issue for your fourth step? Thank goodness you evidently did not have your kids until you got sober otherwise you may have found your family in a sober living home for women and children. Regarding your statement that "most men that are new in recovery are all pervs" and related statements, I question the company you keep. There are alot of meetings and recovery groups, but it sounds like you found some weirdos in your journey. I am still not comfortable with all that hugging in Narcotics Anonymous, but I guess if I hated women as much as you despise men, I could go to stag meetings only. My wife might find that odd, and stag meetings typically do not allow children and we can't always afford babysitters. There are some good meetings that allow kids. Perhaps you should talk to your sponsor about such issues.

You complain about compensation for sober living managers and bemoan them as babysitters lacking expertise in drug testing. Sounds like maybe you worked as a sober living manager, perhaps a long time ago when you first got sober? I would imagine there are many different financial arrangements for people who oversee sober living homes. Surely, some are fair arrangements and some are not. I suppose the "managers" would be free to pursue lawsuits like anybody would against a restaurant, law firm or any employer, if in fact they were employees. Sober living homes are not treatment centers requiring drug testing, but any good home does test to keep people honest. Experts are not necessary.

I appreciate your sincere concern and consideration of this important issue from the perspective of an NA member. Hopefully you can develop some solutions to meet the goal of maintaining the peace in single family neighborhoods while ensuring the rights of recovering addicts to live amongst us. I will remember you in my 10th Step Prayer tonight...

Paul
