I'm from Grants - well close to Grants. For ten years, I always stopped on I-40 that runs through there to help folks having car trouble. That included the truckers. Not long ago, I ran out of gas on the Interstate about two miles from Grants. No one including truckers would stop. I walked the two miles into Grants, called a friend, and he came with gas.
I'm one of the few people on the planet that refuses to own a cell phone.
I no longer help truckers.
For gosh sakes, if you see some poor idiot walking down the highway and the car stranded nearby ( actually with an old dog on a leash ) wouldn't you think the dum-dum might need some help?
One trucker actually swerved toward me as if to run me over.
Get them off the road or increase the standards for licensing.
Us old geezer pilot types have to meet very strict certification requirements. Why not truckers?

Truckers do have to meet strict certification requirements, physicals, FBI background checks, Homeland Security background checks, driving tests and pass the DOT handbook test. It takes more then just being able to point a vehicle in the right direction to be qualified.
