YES IT IS A TAX!!!! The Supreme Court ruled that it is constitutional because it is a TAX!!!! If you do not have insurance you will be TAXED. That is how they plan to enforce it.

Sounds like the right wing media has given you lots of ammunition to use against this bill. Good for you. I bring home poverty wages, but my wife and I already have excellent insurance and we are very lucky to have it. This would not have been possible prior to the initial Healthcare reform.

Well congratulations dumb ass! People are so fucking ignorant in this country thinking everything is free for the taking! If you actually believe that this will have no effect on unemployment, higher prices, inflation, etc., then you are a dumb ass! In fact, the idiots that don't want to work will have no reason at all now to attempt to find a job!!! I am so sick of this socialist, entitlement mentality of people! People like you are the problem in this country by expecting the middle class and the rich to pay for your bull shit! Well, to you and others like you, suck it you POS's!

I bust my ass @ a full time job and have been paying for the drug addicted alcoholic lazy people's medicaid and food stamps since I was 18! Those who need it are fine but those who can work and just dont want to are those who piss me off!! They get free food and health insurance while sitting on their ass all day getting high and fat!!! I barely live paycheck to paycheck And now the slackers get taxed so I can have a break on health insurance premiums which I work hard for.... maybe that will help get them off their ass and stop feeding off others!!! Go Obama!!!!!

I didn't think I needed anymore laws or taxes. The people of America will one day realize we can't keep taxing and making more intrusive laws at every whim. I for one didn't need another law or tax to tell me what to do and how to do it. The slippery slope will bottom out on us if we don't quit pushing the constitution into a corner. 6-4 tight vote and I respect that.

You are delightfully stupid. How is requiring people to have insurance socialism? You don't know the meaning of the word. What it means is my premiums won't keep getting jacked up because you go to the hospital ER for a hangnail and stick to hospital with the bill. You hate it because your free ride is over. People that have insurance and pay their bills won't be affected by the personal mandate. Just dumb redneck assh*les without insurance that expect a free ride hate it.

You people amaze me ,if people can't afford it now what makes you think they can when this goes into effect. And not everyone who doesn't have insurance gets a free ride some people work more than 1 job just to keep bills paid and food on the table. Just another way for goverment to control our life and it won't end with this if something isn't done to stop it. Now let the bashing begin.

The poor will still receive Medicaid. The working poor will get a tax credit. The government won't control your healthcare, your private insurance company will. The only way the government gets involved is when you don't pay. The cost will go down because more people will be paying into the pool. Your insurance company can't cancel you because you are old or sick. Your children are now eligible for your employers plan and can remain on it until they are twenty six years old. Those that are insured are not affected by this mandate.

It is unbelievable how ignorant some of you are. "In the Know" is an expert on government but can't spell government correctly. This law is a very good thing for the average American. It allows millions of people access to healthcare they have been denied because of lack of insurance.

Obviously those complaining are those that are uninsured and one of the reasons for high premiums. You go to the er for everything which is a lot more expensive than going to the dr office then you don't pay the bill so the hospitals raise their prices to account for the deadbeats then the insurance companies have to pay out more then they pass the costs on to those that do have insurance. You don't wait till your house burns down to insure your home you don't wait till you wreck your car to get auto insurance why would you wait till you are sick to get health insurance. The law doesn't say employers have to provide insurance. Every state is required to have a website set up where people can buy insurance on their own. Some people will get help with the premiums and some employers will give credits so you can get insurance on your own and choose what you want. Because of the affordable care act most policies now cover all preventive care at 100% with no maximums, other essential services can't be excluded, you can't be denied for pr-existing conditions, there are no lifetime maximums, you can cover your children until they are 26, 30 if they are in the military. I'm sure you don't have any problems with that part of it, just the part that makes you have coverage so the rest of us don't have to pay for it. How can you expect the insurance companies to cover every person with expensive pr-existing conditions without people in the pool who are healthy. That's what insurance is, you pay into it when you are healthy so its there when you are sick. So if you are going to whine at least be educated and know what you are talking about.

so you can't afford insurance. I understand its not cheap but if you get sick with a devastating illness can you afford thousands of dollars in medical bills? Or would you just not pay them and pass the cost on to the rest of us? Would you rather have insurance that pays 80 or 90% of it? Plus if the dr and hospital are contracted with the insurance company they can't charge you more than the insurance company allows. They have to write off the difference. If you dont have insurance they don't have to write anything off you are responsible for whatever they charge you. So can you afford not to have insurance is the question.

Greetings from the swamp.

There are too many unanswered question about Obamacare. Yes, Pogo has read that those who have insurance already may keep it, but in the end after all the rules are read, interpreted, court cases, appeals, etc, what the proponents of national healthcare proclaim will happen really happen?

We shall see how this all shakes out of the bag.

Take time a get the facts. This health bill contains a lot of good for all of us. Is it perfect --NO. Let us move forward and make changes as we go forth. Many pundits see the bad in many things. We did not like Social Security when it was passed in 1936 not did we like Medicare and Medicaid when it was passed in 1964. By the way this bill is called AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE not Omabacare. Let give it a chance. Look for the good in things and you will find it.

The bill does state that employers have to provide insurance for their employees OR pay a $2000 fine annually per employee AND pay a percentage of the insurance premium for each employee. How are small business owners going to survive this? I agree there are positives to this bill but the negatives outweigh the positives! It needs to be repealed and rewritten with much more detail and far fewer demands!

Another negative is that insurance costs will skyrocket! The companies will now be forced to accept all prior illnesses, provide the same premium for someone with high blood pressure and diabetes due to being obese comared to a healthy person of the same age, the only people who will pay higher rates are smokers, add more coverages, lower deductibles or exclude in some cases, the list goes on. The risks will increase for the insurance companies and they WILL get their money by raising rates on EVERYONE.
