Both parents need to be shot, if fact that is too good for them, they are useless in every way possible.

People like them sicken me to the core, brainless, stupid, irresponsible, pathetic low life. No education, just filth of the lowest kind.

I HAVE NO SYMPATHY for them at all.

They should definitely have all other children removed from them right away.

And may I ask what kind of encounters you are referring to?

I have 2 pit bulls. If I don't come on for a few days, please send someone out to pick up my partially eaten carcass and call next of kin.

It's always pit bulls. Why aren't these worthless animals banned and eradicated from the earth? I am tired of hearing these senseless stories.

I bet they fight the dogs or one of them, maybe that is why they have three. The first two were not aggressive enough in the fight, who knows. I bet the owners have as much to do with the way the dogs acted as did the breed or more.

4 million hospitalizations each and every year in the U.S. for dog bites and the vast majority are not pit bulls but are family pets. All dogs are carnivores and have the teeth necessary to kill and eat flesh. Small dogs can kill small children. Even infants are dog bite victims year after year. Every dog owner in the country puts their family at risk.

The parents are definitely in the wrong. Children between the ages of 5-9 are most likely to be attacked by any dog. Boys more than girls. She shouldn't have been alone with the dogs. Dogs are not meant to be chained. If they felt the dogs couldn't be free, they didn't need to have the dogs.

Your stats are correct, however, stats have to be held up and scrutinized. There ARE creeps who get this breed because of it's notoriety and teach them to be aggressive, do not properly care for them, etc. We do not know how this affects the bite ratio compared to a pug, for example, who would probably not be trained to attack or chained in the backyard..... here is an article by the human society. Of note, other breeds which have been categorized this way in the past.

Another problem.......do we know what the dog breed is with every incident? Everyone and their brother now SAYS they have a pit, if they think it is "cool".

By definition, this is a poor owner. The dogs think that they are the pack leader and not the other way around. Added together, my 2 dogs weigh as much as I do. They walk by my side on leash with no struggle. That wasn't initially the case, but it is now. I don't care what type of dog you have ,if they are dragging you around, you have trouble brewing.

The parents are solely at fault here, cut and dry.
I don't mean to sound uncareing at the tragic death of this little child as I have buried a child and the pain is there every day.
I say their at fault because if they had a Beware of dog sign on their fence they were darn well awear of what these dogs were capable of. They did not have control of the situation or the animals, shame on them both.

OOK....yet in your first posting you stated "I've personally just never been sold on the whole "the dog's personality is a result of their owner" argument." And then here you talk of a dumbass who has three dogs them all on one leash and he could not control them. Yet, in your feeling, this isn't the owner's responsibility, or lack of to blame?!?!

It IS up to the owners and it IS the owners that you can usually blame. No different than when a 17 year old kid goes into a mall with an AK47...look at HIS "owners".

It's "always pit bulls" because that is who the media attacks. 30 years ago, you constant hear about German Shepherds attacking and killing. 20 years ago, the only harmful dog you heard about was the Doberman. Then the Rottweiler.......get the hint?

So if he had three Chihuahuas on a single leash...oh whatever. I'll just keep on packing my 1.2 million volt stun gun just in case.
lol.....well, if he couldn't control the chihuahuas you could have just stomped them. Why did you skeedadle from the park if you carry a stun gun?? lol

My point was only that, owners are responsible for training. Mine are puppies still. Not long from now, they will outweigh me. Before that time, they have to understand that I'm the boss.

ALSO, children should not be left with any family pet. PERIOD. No children with ANY pet. Pets are, in fact, animals.

"skeedadle" ...lol! I ran out the door without it that day and I'm sure you're a good owner. Sounds like you have some cool dogs.
OK, TASER Tommy, they ARE cool dogs and I will admit that didn't pick them....they picked me. They were hitchhiking on the side of the road one day and I gave them a lift.

I will also admit that they like to lick my ankles....:|....I'm told this is a sign of submission....:|....I'm only hoping they aren't waiting until they are larger than I am and they are currently doing a taste test. LOL

So, again, if I'm not heard of send out the posse to check!

Skeedadle is a GREAT word.....it is very much to the point and an icebreaker as well. lol

I'm sorry that this child was attacked and killed but how many times does this have to happen before we wake up and realize that you can't just breed out the taste for blood that Pitbulls' have had almost since the inception of the breed. I've personally just never been sold on the whole "the dog's personality is a result of their owner" argument. I know I'm going to catch hell for this statement but before anyone accuses me of hating dogs, I am the proud owner and master of a 6 year old black lab....so I do love dogs...I've just had too many close encounters with pits and their owners to list.
I agree with you there also, I don't like pit bulls, people can say what they want, they will turn on you, even in the best conditions.

I'm about to go to my house. I will carefully and quietly ease into the driveway and tippy toe from my auto in while throwing kibbles over my shoulder. I hope it works.

I'll let you know.......lol
