Whoa! You sleep well at night because we've got the bad guys. Your work day does not include:
Feces thrown at you.
Cutting down suicide hangings.
Staying with a dying AIDS patient.
Dealing with the parts of society
no one wants to know about.
Not knowing if your going home at the end of your shift. We can't refuse being mandated. Yes, we do have good benefits,our pay is actually less than private sector jobs (do a little research), but when you go to bed tonight that guy who cased your house, wants to hurt your kids isn't there because we have them.
Look at the management numbers not the average employee, the number of line staff has actually gone down relative to the population of CT. prisons. The State Police are 200 below safe levels, they too can't go home at their shifts end. Spend a day in our shoes and then judge us.....
