As an American, I find religious freedom to be a pretty nifty thing to have. I mean who doesn't desire the freedom to believe in a manner of their choosing? A man's beliefs are fairly important to him. And why shouldn't they be? They help mold the very fabric of our lives. However, I've come to the understanding that there are those among us who abuse that freedom. Those who take it upon themselves to take those beautifully sacred teachings (whatever they may be), and use them as a weapon against their fellow man. And I say this about believers and unbelievers alike. If you don't believe an atheist's lack of faith in God makes him any less violent, then you've obviously never talked to one. They may not be the worst I've ever seen in regards to this, but they're definitely at the top of the list. Anyway, how deplorable is this?! How utterly disgraceful is it for such evolved creatures (at least the vast majority of us) to turn against each other over something as deeply intimate as a person's belief? As if their personal convictions should even affect us at all. As if we have any real authority to judge. Exactly how civilized a society are we if we can't even seem to figure out how to love our fellow man? We can put a man on the moon, but we still can't seem to love him. Where's the love people? A little acceptance wouldn't hurt anything either. Just sayin.
