done that

Been there, done that. The Democrat party tried to bring a breath of fresh air to the community, a few years back, if I recall, and it's own people dumped on it. In particular, the Town Clerk, and Democrat County people.
Do you not realize the group who cared for Forestport and were a constructive minded group of Democrats were virtually STOMPED TO THE GROUND? Do you wonder why one party rules here? No one has been able to hold it together. Now, those who wanted to rule or ruin, succeeded and see just what you have here now??? You all deserve what you get. What goes around comes around.
A strong two party system is what elections are all about. It is what brings diversity and that is good. Party people pay a high price for trying to bring about change that is needed through selection and working to elect GOOD PEOPLE to represent them.
Again, year after year people don't even want to go near party politics in this town. AND now look at what you have got.....Ya'all got what you deserved .........
Want it to change? Then roll up your sleeves, talk with people and learn what they are about, then get a group together who believe in them and work to help them bring much needed changes.
When you are called to participate on any level during campaign time..........help make changes;, don't let someone else take your responsibilites from you.
Then, taxpayers should follow up a candidate with seeing to it that they fulfill their responsibilities to the taxpayers and those who care about our history/heritage and our future generation......

There are boundaries specified for certain elected offices. One cannot just up and run for an office without meeting certain residency requirements.

Particularly those who are "summer" people. Most cannot run for office, due to residency requirements by the Election Law, yet they are under the rules of the town for everything else.
How would you like that deal? Pay but can't have a say???? You all better hope that the summer people don't get wise, and for 1 election year, switch their franchise to NYS and vote to Forestport.
Interesting to see how that could be accomplished and what the drawbacks may be. Check it out!!!

The summer people aren't renters Edd- they're the ones that OWN half million dollar places on the lakes- the very same people that comprise 85 percent of Forestport's tax base... You better watch out if these people get smart and start voting someplace where their vote actually matters

It's all about Leadership!!
After researching and listening to others, the Democrat Party WAS active and running smoothly. It was taken down years back by a local selfish group combined with County members, who wanted control. Since then, Forestport has not had a vital representative group to keep a two party system to provide choices for taxpayers.
Like most things that are moving well, there is always the Chink in the Armor. But that is past, and it is a serious time right now for our community to grasp on and turn it around. The path it is on now is one of neglect, loosing touch with people, lack of monitoring programs, and lack of GUTS to address the need to make the changes for betterment of our community.
Look around you people..........how many other places have such inherent beauty? We got it all.......so let's keep it as close to natural beauty as we can. That means keeping close to our next generation to perpetuate the history of this unique and beautiful community.

like I said I own a house not in this town , but I can only vote in one place , and don't they vote where they live , don't they care about their other homes , and are they not the same as me if they don't live here all the time they have no idea what or whos best for this town , like I don't for my other house ....
good thought

Edd, that makes sense. Sometimes those who do not live here all year long, can still have a positive effect by keeping informed and contributing what talents and lessons they have learned elsewhere, to help keep this, their "second" community, running economically and smoothly. Speak to the neighbors and friends you have here, and perhaps share some actions taken in your OTHER community that may be adopted to help us all here.
Thank you for caring, and sharing your thoughts. It is a special contribution to our town. It shows!

The important thing is they are registered and can vote. Party enrollment only matters if there is a primary in a particular party. Only registered voters in that party can vote for a candidate in a primary who will represent their views on the ballot in November.
Other than that, how they each register and vote in November is not our concern.

Eddl the last known Ch.of the Democrat Party was the lady who is in charge of the Senior and Youth Rec. Programs. Heard that sometime ago, and it may have changed since then.. Contact the Oneida County Election Board in Utica to get the current Chairperson, if there is one.

If they want to keep it a secret , so be it , I vote with my head not a party .. we need people in office that care about the people , the community , and the country , not them selves ... good luck with that ..

Right on EDD. Perhaps that would be a good thing to find out for those who for one reason or another, can't or would rather not. Also, to find if there is ANY political framework for Forestport in the County Election Bureau for either party here. Will share what I learn.

PLEASE DO NOT EVEN THINK OF SUPPORTING ANYONE EVEN REMOTELY INVOLVED IN THE GOINGS ON IN OUR TOWN MOST RECENTLY. THERE HAS BEEN NO INDEPENDENT ACTIVITY TO SUPPORT OR EVEN ENTERTAIN THE DEEP, SERIOUS CONCERNS THE RESIDENTS AND THE TAXPAYERS (who also are the seasonal people who can't vote here)
With what we have witnessed, and how our support for the bridges has been subverted and compromised up to this point WHY? WHY? WHY? would any taxpayer in thier right mind want anyone of that ILK re-elected to do more damage to our community?
We need a full scale investigation, and a COMPLETE HOUSECLEANING for the sake of ALL OF US!
Amazing

John Mazurowski used to be Mark Phillips. He was married to Tina Nicholson, had five children left her and changed his name. I would ask myself why would an adult man with children change his name? He claims its a family name which I get but why change it now. Hmm maybe because he had no credit but now that he's changed it he has a new home, vehicles etc. Plus he works out of town driving truck. Just some facts to point out before everyone jumps on the bandwagon to vote for him.
