I hope it stays at the bar where it belongs. It's a wonder it has survived. Many people have urinated on it up on the hill, do they still down at the bar ? I don't think it would it would be safe at the ball field another season anyways.

You are all focusing on this situation and not seeing that we stand to loose our twin bridges project because we have a drunk on the take as a supervisor.
What about saving that body function of yours, and use it on the supervisor???

lol

glad that statue is not up to the ball field, he was not our town hero or mascot. We do not need it there making people that visit the field thinking he was. There are many others who have passed away much more deserving of being carved in wood in our presence .One year was enough, not a permanent fixture. Scooter would agree.

drove to Forestport from Boonville the other day, wanted to see the bridge action, if any, and I was shocked to see the horrible ruts on the right side of the road heading towards the bridges.
Are people blind that they dont' see those dangerous ruts? They obviously are left over from the winter snowmobiles.
Certainly a reflection on your town highway department.......

its a reflection on the snowmobiles , they rip up all the roads , its a price we pay for winter recreation ...

looked more like water wash out ruts. I am not sure snowmobiles could cause this, so check it out. Country living says it is a water wash out type rut.
If it were snowmobile ruts, it seems they would be along the whole road area also. Not this bad, but some indication of wear of this type would show elsewhere. Starts at the top of Dutch Hill down to the concrete bridge.
No matter what the cause, this dangerous section of the shoulder SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY HIGHWAY.

Get past it!
Personally, I didn't really know him so I am not one to act as if I did know him.
The statue being placed there was really not proper, unless as others have said on here, and in town, there were many, many people who did much more for the kids and the ball field over time, and they have not been honored.
To single ONE PERSON, and a person with a history HE created for HIMSELF that was not a good example for our youth, lacks substance.
Why the town board allowed this is questionable, but positions of stature need to have earned that in the eyes our children. He lived his life as HE chose. It is not a life I would want my child, or grandchild to emulate!(try to equal or excel)
RIP SCOOTER.
He will never be able to rest with the controversy that has been ongoing.
Where is the statue now? It should be with Beep.

he may not have been a good example for our kids , but is a parent any better a role model , that talks on a cell phone while driving , goes thru stop signs , goes over the speed limit , drinks and drives , smokes pot , ect.

Bubba, your questions are such that they are and will always be prominent and unending. The question is do you want your child to emulate Scooter? As an adult, we have already been taught right from wrong, a child is VERY easily impressed and for that reason, children's idols should be HEAD AND SHOULDERS above Scooter. Sad, but he chose the life he lead, a nice guy, yes, a good role model for youth, NO!
Talking on a cell phone is much less harmful than shooting and snorting and destroying your body and mind. There is little comparison. Both are life's options and sad to say, children are very impressionable and love the excitement. Cellphone misuse and someone twisting your arm to do drugs that slowly destroy your mind, body and possibly even another person's life while you have no idea of what you are doing, are not QUITE the same. The drugs cause you to be out of control of reasoning during which time, one can unnecessarily put themselves and others in harms way.
Scooter was not a good example in his later years of life, for anyone to want to be like him during that horrible existance.
It was sad, watching him destroy himself, as many of us did. His best example for us was to TAKE WHAT GOOD HE DID FOR OTHERS BEFORE HE GOT HEAVILY INTO DRUGS, AND VOW NOT TO LIVE YOUR LIFE LIKE HE DID IN HIS LAST YEARS. Now, let him rest in peace.
Maintaining an unending vigil for the safety of our future generation is far more important at this point in time today.

Well said! If all children and adults had the heart of gold that Scoot did the world would be a better place! He had his faults yes, but anyone who knew him would agree he pushed nothing on anyone, would do what he could to help anyone and had a heart of gold! I'm proud to say he was my friend and I miss his great sense of humor! R.I.P brother!

the statue was put on the field by his wife and friends to honor scoot , for his love of the game , I'm sure parents can explain that to their children ...

I knew that and agree completely Bubba! I see no harm at all in Scoots statue being there! If there are others that should have a statue there then do it and stop complaining is how I see it!
