I am searching for genealogy information on my grandmother's parents. Family stories state that both her mother and father died in an explsion at the Black Powder Factory in Thebes, Illinois, around 1918. I have read that there was also a Dynamite factory in the same area, in Fayville, that exploded in 1920 and was never rebuilt. I read that the Black Powder factory had several diffeent explsions, some with no injuries and one that killed 5-6 people. Does anyone have any informaiton about these plants, the explsions, dates, and very possibly, the names and dates of those who died in the explosions. Is there a library or historical reference location in the area that I might be able to access?

I'd be curious about this, too, as I have a great-great grandmother who worked at a dynamite factory in Thebes. I have no other information to share, but I'd love to learn more. I will try to contact the Thebes Historical Society, as well.
