Why is Marlene O'Toole interceding for the former public defender charged with DUI Manslaughter in Lake County. The Leesburg paper, Daily Commercial, reports that O'Toole will be speaking on his behalf at his sentencing. Why? Answer, POLITICS. Is she using her position to influence the judge? Sounds like a case the FDLE should be made aware of. What does she have to say on behalf of the postal worker that died in the accident?

I saw the same article and my eyebrows raised. Your observations are all correct. The newspapers will be there from what I hear and I am sure her actions will be reported. Smells fishy to me.

Big article in Bikers News, August issue regarding this O'Toole and some of her other political cronies who will speak at at the accused sentencing. A lot of bikers from all walks of life will be attending to support the victims family. I understand this group has lawyers and a lot of cops on board as well. We will see what the old bag has to say.

From my many years of experience, I do not believe any judge would take the chance of sacrificing their reputation or career and play politics in a case where a drunken driving death has occurred. There is a lot of scrutiny upon these people and it does not take much to initiate an investigation by the FDLE or the judicial conduct commission. Don't forget, ALL correspondence communicated to them by mail, electronic mail or otherwise, is fair game under the freedom of information act or by subpoena by federal or state law enforcement. The judge will stand true to his values, expect a long and well deserved sentence for the community activist drunk who killed an innocent man. Don't really expect much from the political puppets like O'Toole and the of the phonies that want to make our criminal justice system appear to be corrupt.

I wonder how the deceased family will respond to an elected official speaking for the man who is responsible for their loved ones death?

It is so insensitive of her to put herself in the middle of this. I know Marlene, have even worked with her and socialized with her. She is a wonderful and caring person. I question her wisdom and motives in becoming involved in such antics.

Death is a very personal issue to the surviving family and they need to be treated with respect and dignity by all. I regret that elected official are allowed to act in behalf of what basically is a tragic and unnecessary death. While Marlene may act in orchestration with fellow law makers to enact DUI laws, as well as other laws, now she is taking a public stand in defense of a drunken driver who killed an innocent man.

Well, she did show at the court house. She spoke on behalf of the accused DUI man that killed the cyclist. By all accounts she seemed nervous, not very articulate and did not add much to the hearing.

Now here is a Fla Sate Rep not speaking for the victim but for the man responsible for his death. What a jerk!! You can tell by her demeanor she has a very high and over exaggerated opinion of herself. What a loser.

If you ever get in trouble DO NOT let Marlene O'Toole speak to the court in your behalf. Her comments did no good for Mr Duncan, charged with DUI Manslaughter, he got 10 years and 4 months.

It is very noteworthy to meant that when she did speak in an effort to get this man off the hook for killing someone when he was drunk she did not have a very intelligent argument. She said he was an active member of the community. She really sounded stupid to me. The deceased was also an active member of the community before his untimely death. She definitely has an over exaggerated opinion of her importance. I am sure this will come back and bite her in her fat azz come next election time.
