Holy cow, just look at what America's education system has done for you. You're rant is so full of mis-information as well as misspellings that I cried. Seriously, if you hate America so badly why are you living here? I am all for the Super Center, 100%. Not because of some sick love for them but rather an economic love. I love to make money, I love to spend money. Spending it on a brick of Tillamook Cheese (what? produced in OREGON you say? You mean it's an American product sold by Wal-Mart? Say it isn't so!)at Wal-Mart is more satisfying than paying 2x more at Fred Meyer. I love to spend money, yes. However, I love a great deal too!

I agree with Judy. The un educated love to lash out on facts and absalutes. They need walmart like they hate capatalism. Yon know why white people wine and cry about social services for mexicans? They don't like it. What will their kids live off? A walmart trust fund (perchased by the phone cards)
or The Walmart collage fund(also by the phone cards) or the walmart overthrow america card(powered by toyata) My point is Walmart and the people who shop there are unAmerican. They wine about the ruling class. While they empower them to rule. Maybe obama will save us from ourseleves. Like credit card interest and close down walmart for our own good. We'd still line up outside cuase were little babies who mock those who died for our freedoms. AND IT'S ALWAYS JUST ABOUT US. I wonder what min. wage is in china, or healthcare. Keep thinking about you america. The rest of the world knows our obsessions with ourselves.

Albertsons did not just close in The Dalles, Albertsons closed all over the US. The chain is going under and being bought out by a larger company. I watched 5 Albertson stores close in Tulsa, OK in 2007 only to be changed over to Grocery Pyramid. A Super Walmart will hopefully give this town some jobs, which a lot of people here need...Even though the people in this town will probably just buy crack with the money anyway.

Is this the sort of person the Cascade Locks school system churns out? The grammar and spelling in your statement leaves me unable to even guess what you're trying to say.
better then you wrote:
judy judy judy you are dim witted read the market statistics check the us censuses and and check publi tax records
and you will see that the hood river walmart makes as much money as it would if it were a super center
and if the put the walmart supercenter in the dalles
the market topography of shopper that to hood river from the dalles will instead go to the dalles providnt to bennifts one walmart in the dalles will pay higher taxes coprates taxes that money will be used by the dalles goverment to fund serval thing in your city that are crappy norcor for example the community colllege and the public school for that matter the police force the list goes on
number two there will be less sales in hood river cause hood river city to have competitive advantage over walmart

This town is a backwater unable and umwilling we deserve walmart as walmart deserves us
You have no clue do you people, you just see lower prices so you are all for that, if you only knew the truth behind their "rolled back prices" really was. Dont you realize they want to come here because we are a small town and by bringing in a store that is cheaper than local shops they know we will flock to it running down the locals,in the long run bringing more customers to buy from Walmart.

Walmart stores brain wash everyone into believing that they benefit families when they tear them apart, closing businesses, this is a small town we will have nothing left if Walmart comes, but a dead ghost town.

Walmart has their employees works around the clock, because they are too cheap to hire anyone else. Walmart stores were suied because they lacked to pay their employees the overtime that was owed to them, Do you people realize how much Walmart stores make from us. Walmarts healthcare benefits are so rediculus they force employees to go to the health plan, Causing locals to pay more taxes to cover it.

In the long run you people will see that this was a mistake to let them in.

I know it will save you all money in your pockets but what about the people who will loose their jobs, homes, due to this.

All the money that Wal-mart will make goes to another state,Arkansas.Bentonville AR,(not Oregon or the Dalles) will benefit from the profits, and what do we get in return for our "low" prices? 40-60 minimum wage jobs part time staff who can't feed a family and end up on public assistance, just like wal-mart wants.Oh they could pay more, but why?,when we Let them abuse our workforce? when thier lobbyiest efforts in congress get them a free pass. you like women's rights? you like racial equality?Don't shop at wal mart then.
Our clueless city leaders will probably get a under the table payoff to make it happen and grant them a county or city variance on property taxes for oh 20 years, about the time wal-mart needs to suck our community dry.
Shop local when you can, these people are your neighbors and they pay taxes that put your kids through school.some of us even do things for free for the community.if wal-mart comes in,I'm giving up on you dumbasses and leaving.its a step in the wrong direction for The Dalles,we need manufacturing and skilled labor jobs, for that to happen Oregon needs to be a more friendly place for those kinds of businesses(right now it's not)de-elect the retards running our state capitol and get people in there who understand business and economics so we can all grow, not just evil corporations who don't pay thier fair share of taxes, like wal-mart.

Albertson didnt make it because they were too high on prices and not enough of the type of sales that people wanted and the headquarters put it on the list of stores to close because the profits were not high enough, they were keeping the good stores, dont blame other stores. Outlet made it because of good deals and safeways or freds didnt stop them. Walmart in Hood River doesnt have that good of prices on food, I can find much better deals in The Dalles stores. A super Wal-mart could bring more business to The Dalles as people who live in outline area's will come to the Dalles to shop like Goldendale, etc instead of driving to Hood River every so offen to shop at a different store, as more people come, they eat at fast food, buy gas etc, other businesses do better. Also other business may come to try to be next to Wal-mart super store to tap into their business, like fast food , or other types of stores so it promote more business and more jobs. All the cry babies pulled this stunt that wal-mart will run out other busineses in Hood river when they came in and those businesses are still there, like safeways, high school Pharmacy, rosauers store, Walmart didnt try to drive them out of business. The reason why they go out of business like Albertson is because they didnt get in touch with what the customers wants and that falls under management not what other stores do. Albertson shut down a lot of stores not just in The Dalles but other locations that were not doing good to steam line the company as it was having problems, Safeways and freds in The Dalles had nothing to do with all those stores being closed. So stop the Blame game.

I see a lot of the people who WANT a walmart are leeches already,I'm pointing this directly at you Washintonians! who skip out on sales taxes in thier own state to buy goods in Oregon.why don't you leave this discussion to the people who have to live with the decision.not just skip into town clogging up our streets to save a buck and run off just in time to avoid paying any taxes at all.
By the way ,of the "200" jobs wal-mart claims to add for a supercenter, most of these would not be new jobs to our town, they would just stretch other workers thinner, and the offset to jobs lost from other stores closing down will not add ANY jobs to the area,K-mart,Grocery outlet, and Rite Aid have just as low of prices, but the dumb hicks who are bad at math to start with can't figure that out.(they drive 50 plus miles extra to "SAVE" $20)in thier Furd Superdooty diesel which gets them 11 miles a gallon at 4 dollars a gallon, nice savings...leave the math to the people who went to high school, Schmucks!

I would like to know what happened to wal-mart selling only America products. I will buy only American made products and if that means staying out of wal-mart and the other retail shops that support imported products to help put the American people back to work so be it. That is what is wrong no one can afford American made products be cause it cost to much so Here I come Wal-Mart.
come to think of it what other small retail stores in our valley sells imported products, it is not only Wal- Mart. Try to buy a pair of jeans from Levis that is made in America and it will cost you but you buy it from China and you can get two to three pairs for the price of one pair made here, Why is that????
How many products can you buy that has been made in America???
