I am currently in the process of becoming an instructor for ATI. I want everyone reading this forumn to think about one thing. Right now, there are 180 comments here, the majority of them are negative. Human beings are an interesting breed. We are 100 times more likely to pass on information about a bad experience than a good one. Stop and think about that with an open mind. The last time you had a bad experience at a store, restaraunt, social event, etc. what did you do? I'll tell you what you did. You went and told as many people you could about your bad experience. And, most likely fabricated your story and blew it slightly out of proportion. You might have posted it on your facebook or twitter. You're guilty of, I'm guilty of it, we're all guilty of it; it's human nature. What did you do the last time you had a good experience? Did you tell everyone you could how good your waitress was at Applebees? Did you go out of your way to let all of your friends know that Discount Tire did a good job fixing your flat tire? Most likely you didn't. So, how about the hundreds of thousands of other people that attended ATI in the past 30 years? Are you going to let your mind be made up by these few bad experiences? Don't let the negative opinions of this small demographic who failed sway your thinking...
I have to agree with you despite ALL of the negative Reviews about ATI, I did my homework on their competitors and their are reviews that are just as worse as ATI. Every college and trade school has scandal and people who had horrible experiences. No school is perfect and if any school states that they are then RUNNN..

You have a 4.0? With grammar skills such as displayed here? Something doesn't quite add up here, Jessie...

Absolute truth. I attended Nashville Auto-Diesel College in Nashville, TN. When I began my research on ATI, I stumbled upon this message board. I was surprised to see all of the negativity. So, I found a message board for Lincoln Technical College. All of the same negativity. I know that I had a good experience at my college, so I went and found a message board about NADC. Yup, you guessed it. All the same negativity. Only the negative people share their experiences in this matter; and blow them out of proportion. Look at Jessie King here. In his own words, has a 4.0 and is on "da deans list." Come on, nobody with such horrible grammar is, or should be, on a Dean's List. You're full of it, Jessie!

Jessie,
I worked for ATI 1997-99 as a financial aid officer. During that time, I counseled students regarding their financial aid eligibility and put their loan packages together.

The cost of tuition per semester at a trade school is considerably more that a local community college due in part because it includes the total cost of the entire education. The trade school(any trade school) "packages" enough funding to pay for the cost of education, which includes all books and tuition. The is no extra for miscellaneous student use. Usually, if you qualify by income for a pell grant, you will still need to take on a subsidized loan to cover the remainder of the tuition not covered by the grant or make arrangements to make monthly out of pocket payments. I was always very forward and explained the individual financial aid plan and each loan document very thoroughly. When you sign those documents, You are assigning payment to the school and when they receive the payment, the school receipts it and posts it to your account. Keeping in mind that it has been over 10 yrs since I worked for them and things may have changed but this is how it was when I was a financial aid officer.

The government regulates a maximum (PELL)award amount per student per year, depending on income eligibilty. Tuition costs are usually lower at a community college and you pay by the semester rather than for the whole degree at one time, therefore each semester, students are issued the remainder of the unused grant/loan award amount after the school takes their tuition money so you may purchase text books and such. After that, the rest is yours to spend as you choose.

I hope this helps.

Yes, I was one of those instructors. I had been at ATI for 14 years, the place became a disaster and we instructors that were let go knew it and they would not do anything about it. They just took students money and did nothing for them. I would testify against them at any time. Just let me know.

EVEN INSTRUCTORs SAY THE SCHOOL IS BAD,,C'MON GIVE UP! ATI is the worst trade school ever. Most of these people defending ATI are teachers, employees and students who are friends with them.

If the school wasn't that bad we would NOT have that many NEGATIVE comments here would we?

We have NEGATIVE comments because there is something REAL BAD about this school.EVEN TEACHERS or INSTRUCTORS are saying the truth.

ATI takes people's money and don't care who graduates.Whoever wants to talk about my Grammar can do it,English is my 4th language and i have masters in math.

PS: I wasn interested in cars that's why i tried it.Big waste of time, Teacher were clueless about most of the stuff.

PSS: All the equipment were old and not functioning correctly.

Just in case one of ATI smart asses wants to comment on it.:)

I worked for ATI for a short while. I was one of the most-liked teachers there, but I have to say, this company is bad news.
The school is really a business. Their main concern is money. They drive all the teachers like sales people trying to keep all the students coming to class.
The company works like this: there's a group of sales associates who's main concern is how many students they can enroll because they get $$ from their numbers (and if they don't make their sales goal, they get fired, so there's a LOT of pressure). So they tell lies and even enroll students who are not equipped for school (like homeless and physically disadvantaged people).
Then when the students come to class, they've been given a picture of a high quality and high standard class only to see that it's all bunch of crap. Although I have a teaching degree, sad to say, most instructors don't have adequate education (high school, associates degree, or foreign degree). In class, instructors are given a set of curriculum and were told to follow them strictly, but the curriculum is crap. When the students are unsatisfied with the education, we'd bring them in to talk to the director who's job is to convince the students that once they leave the school, their lives would be back to the slum. The instructors are awarded based on how many students re-enroll every month.
Once a month (or when sales goes down), all the instructors are called in to be yelled at and threated (to lose our jobs) by the directors because we are not meeting up to the teaching standards, and therefore the sales are down. We have to constantly call our students and force them to come to class, even in the 20 degree weather in the snow and even if we have to go pick them up ourselves. We're not allowed to sit in class and we don't get any breaks in a 10 hour work period (well, technically we get "breaks" but during that 10 mins, we have meetings and had to call students to see why they missed class and fill out paperwork. There's no time to eat a decent meal).
Our school building is crap too. Ceilings falling off, open wires hanging from the ceilings, A/C heater broken so we were stuck in rooms without ventilation. When students smoke outside, the air gets blown in and cause people to get very sick, but they still have to attend class. The fire department came in and everybody had to quickly hide all the illegal stuff so that they won't shut the school down.
This place is a slave driver. I have never been treated like this anywhere else. I feel very degraded working at this company. I love my students but they are all just numbers to this place. I hope the lawsuit shuts this place down.

I wish I had known this earlier. The ATI school I attended for auto mechanic in 2008, is located in Garlad, Texas on Kingsley. The teachers except for one or two didn't have a clue, didn't care about the studentsat all, and didn't not have control of the ex-convicts and criminals they apparently went out and grabed off the streets. One teacher was almost killed because someone spiked his coffee with an unknown substance. There were constant fights and the police was never called. I have never been able to find a job, just doing what I can here and there with a relative who owns his own mechanic shop. I am currently going for my ASE certification in hopes of finding a real job. I strongly believe that because of ATI's reputation I will never land a job with a big dealership as was my dream because the people who attend that school are probably forced to be there by their probation officers. I came here from Africa with the dream of bettering myself but only found lies and deciet with this school and a $24,000 student loan that my wife is helping me with. I am left wondering when this nightmare will end. Freddymac & Fannymae should me held accountable as well. If they don't know they should. Oh yea they did send me on a job, one where I needed to be trained on 18 wheelers, a job I was not trained to do didn't have the tools for and ended up injuring shoulder after 2 weeks. Beside it was a horrible job, almost like slave labor.

For those who are defending this school, WOW! I can't believe it...I usually find the good in everything and everyone, but I can't seem to see anything good about ATI! I have to say that I am a well-rounded individual with a genuine high IQ, but I have to admit that I was fooled as well and fell for the bs ATI fed me to get me enrolled. They are simply a crooked business, preying on people when they are down and seeking a brighter, better future. I got fed up with their lies and bull and began a mission to do something about it. I graduated from high school with honors and can't believe I wasted my time and energy at ATI. I realized just how big a mistake I made about 3 months into my "education". I first just chalked up all of issues to "whoops" on the staff's part. I mean, everyone in the class not having books 2 weeks into a 5-week MOD? Okay, fine the first MOD, but 3 or 4 in a row? Then I heard all the complaints about financial aid and started listening to all of the students and the array of complaints. I got sick of it after a little while, broke down and really talked to these students...Angered me to the bone. I started my mission and had over 70 students on board with a united front against the school's practices. This part of the story will be discussed later due to legal issues pending.
Now, as far as the instructors...I was in Bus. Admin and MOST of these instructors were nice and truly believed in the students and sincerely wanted to help and make their lives better. However, with the criteria to become an instructor at ATI being a select "number of years in that career field", you could chalk up your education to a waste. I mean, if you are taking Dental Assisting, your instructor may very well have swept the floors in a dental office for the required amount of time. HELLO?!? Furthermore, several of the Bus. Admin. Instructors had previously owned their own businesses. So, why are they teaching and not a one of them still had their own business? Is that due to lack of direction and ability to succeed in their chosen field? And THEY are going to instruct US on how to be successful in business? LOL!! No, really, LOL!
I also must insert that there is not one instructor left at the school that was there when I started and only 1 admissions rep and 1 financial aid adv. is still there. They go through employees like, well, most people go through toilet paper. Hmmm. That being said...I under minded my intelligence and trusted those that were very convincing at ATI, now I have student loans due, and their promises for "career placement" are a joke. I still have the job I had when I started school, plus added a second, and got the promotion into a management position that I was skipped over for almost a year ago because I "was in school". I have had ABSOLUTELY NO HELP from ATI. I found these jobs myself, and have only been contacted by the school about my loans and I have to let them know every time, that the only reason I have the job I have is because of ME! I didn't learn anything at ATI except how to be deceitful and get rich doing it. Yeah, I know how it works. I would recommend just getting that loan and throwing it into the nearest dumpster, you would get the same results as attending ATI and giving the $$ to them...Not kidding. If you want a little more knowledge about this school, or need a little direction to vent your anger about your monetary loss or need legal guidance... email me.

I love my School, ATI M.A. Program okc, ok. My instructors are amazing. So much experience and understanding. Yes the work can be hard and you have to be dedicated. I think these people are attending a few small examples of bad schools. this one is great, i agree with the post earlier. You cant be dumb and expect a school to change that, if u failed in high school you will fail here. Face it and change it dont blame the school. Take some responsibility

Very good, Ashley. You hit the nail right on the head. All you are seeing here are the negative posts from a VERY FEW unhappy people. The hundreds of thousands of happy ATI graduates are out in the world making money and living, because they were dedicated and focused. They aren't spending their time on a message board, attempting to smear a school. I am currently employed as an instructor at ATI and love every minute of it!

You are correct Ashley. You do love your School and Instructors. May God bless you and the hard working instructors who make training well for you. However, please do not forget the dedication your instructors have made do not compare with the illegal activity the Senior level of management continue to conduct in the name of greed. You and your instructor are both victims. God Bless you and much success in your future.

My first question, "How long have you worked with ATI?"
Just give it some time, spend time with Carli Strength and the mafia. You will soon see the greed and criminal nature of the people who are decision makers and members of senior management. They make verifiable greedy, unlawful decisions.
If you cannot yet smell the smoke, you have not been close enough to the fire. You will see, trust me, all eventually see. Unfortunately, too many have seen and been burned by the ATI Greedy ones. By the way, it is not a "very few". I was one of the high ranking senior members of management. In other words, dined with them, attended the meetings, vacationed with them, cruised with them, laughed with them, rode with them, sat next to, observed, listened, worked with. Can you say the same? I witnessed years of inproprietary behavior and very bad behavior from Carli Strength, Kathy Fox "First Class only" Frisbee, Darrell "sleep with me" Testerman, Kerry "always drunk" Ransonette, Gary "sleep with me too" Dagenpat, Rey "the short bully" Torres, Steve Lovig and many others. Can you defend an eyewitness, first hand account witness' accusation?
I am an instructor, I am here to make a difference. I cannot control what your opinion of these corporate names is. I work down here with the students. I care. I'm here to help.

If you are attending school, you are there to learn. How do you know your instructors do not know what they are talking about? Maybe you know more than they do. Maybe you should open up your own school and teach.
If I had a 4.0 GPA and could not spell my own name, I'd be wondering

This school is a TOTAL SCAM!! After incurring over $32,000 in student loans and the promise of obtaining employment after graduation as a Respiratory Therapist, here I am one year later without a job. Believe me I have looked high and low for a good paying job only to be told by potential employers that we don't hire ATI graduates because they are not of the same caliber as Collin County or El Centro graduates and also because of the recent investigation by the Texas Workforce Commission.

The placement office of ATI is a complete waste of time. They tried to say that they placed me in a job that I found out about on my own and when I did ask them for help they emailed me websites that anyone with a brain would have already sent resumes out on their own.

This school uses deceptive trade practices, and is only out to make a buck!!

If anyone wants to file a class action lawsuit, I'm definitely interested!!!

Just to let you know that ATI still scams. They will lie to you in any way just to add to their pay roll.

It would be better to go to another school. You won't even get an entry level job. Have fun paying big money and still flip burgers. Trust me
