First off, no climatologist has said that mankind is CAUSING global warming, they say that mans activitites are "affecting" global warming. Everyone agrees that the earth goes through cycles, but the question is, has the huge outpouring of green house gases accelerated those cycles. I've tried to find a analogy for Global Warming and I go with this:

Your in a room, the earth goes through the seasons, in winter the room is cold, in summer the room is warm, you build a fire in the room and keep it going 24 hours a day, now it's not so cold in winter and it's much hotter in summer. That's global warming and the fire is the industrialization of the world.

How can anyone deny the unheard of speed of the melting of the polar ice caps and glaciers worldwide and not see global warming.

Also, as the polar ice melts the water runs into the oceans and changes the tempatures, causing the cooler summer and maybe even the amount of rain/or lack of rain in some places. I'm concerned that the deserts are growing world wide....but if Calif. drops off into the ocean or the contential(sp) US breaks down the middle, We will have ocean front property.

Well, there's a thread asking "How to bring jobs (to Thayer)", I guess when it's Ocean Front property, business will thrive.

LOL....As funny as the break up of the US may seem there has been the discovery of a huge fault line running dioganilly (sp), from Florida to Washington state. This line is 50 miles wide in most places, to wide to see exept from space.I saw pictures many years ago and haven't heard or see much sence. This gives a whole new look at how the land masses became.
It would help our job markets....:-} and it might be a solution to the seccesionist.

I haven't heard of that one, your right, that would be a heck of a solution, If that fault went, the country would be seceding from us..

Yes, just like the one they told us about the world being round. We all know the world is flat. They just wanted to fool us so they could tax us to pay for all of those stupid explorations.

We all know the land fills are not filling up. We all know the quality of our Air is not polluted. We all know that the cutting of all of the timber in the world does not affect the quality of our air.

This is a plan to take our tax money.

In the 70's it was the coming ice age, now it is global warming. Many scientist very effectively debunk the global warming lie but the liberal media doesn't want their side told. AlGore lied like a dog with his so called "facts". What is sad is the stupid people who believe it.

Right, Old Fart, we don't believe any of these facts. I don't live on the Polar Cap, so why would I care? My only real problem is what are we going to do with the waste (garbage)?

Are you sure your problem isn't the message but Al Gore?

They used to grow crops in Greenland (1300's) that is now covered with ice. In one day Mount Pinatubo released enough ash to drop global temps 1 degree. If the earth gets to warm it cools back off. How arrogant for people to think they control the earth, but I guess if you think there is no Creator you would think he doesn't know what He is doing.

Now if you want to talk about how our actions effect other people, that is another issue, the earth can take care of itself and leave us all dead in the process.

I do believe there is a Creator, who knows what he is doing, after all he created man and gave him a brain and also told him he had to use it.(choices)
We split the atom and now we can blow up the entire earth. We can destory the air, the soil, and the water. This does not make me feel very secure as I am also sure that Creator made us stewards of the planet.
Greenland is not the Polar Cap.
I know there is clean coal...

Plus, Greenland had farming between 600 and 1300, at which time the ocean currents changed and it fell into a ice age, in other words, it suffered "Climate Change". No scientist is saying that "man" is causing climate change, they are saying that man is "affecting", accelerating the cycles that the earth always goes through. How can you look at the speed that glaciers all over the world are receding, the speed that the Arctic is losing ice and the fact that the Arctic will be free of ice in Summer in about ten years and NOT realize that man's actions are affecting the climate?

The whole global warming argument is seated in evolutionary thinking. Prior to the flood of Noah there were no ice caps. The ice age was only 4 to 5 thousand years ago, not millions. So what did the poor polar bears do when there was no ice? They adapted to the ice. Global warming propaganda is earth worship and evolutionary thinking all wrapped up in one.

We're talking about things that can be measured, seen with our own eyes and this clown is talking about the "flood of Noah" and other myths, some people just aren't able to deal with reality.

Measured for what time-span and by what standard? Have they had the same equipment reading the temps for hundreds of years? There is no accurate raw data to draw a global warming conclusion from, you move where the reading was taken by 100 feet and they will not be the same. If you are a thinking person you will know the "facts" they claim are not true. There is no reality to the global warming clams, it is as much of a religion as what you are calling myths.

It is so sad when those who are supposed to be so learned are so blinded by stupidity.

The most recent glacial period started in the Pleistocene, ice cores from Antarctica have been carbon dated back 800,000 years and cores in China 760,000 years, the polar bears adapted to life on ice because they had a great great long time to evolve to that life, they are becoming extinct today because the ice is disappearing at too fast a rate for them to adapt to a life without ice.

I find it amazing that some of you refuse to believe in science. You have no problem believing there is a majical space God which controls everything and knows what everyone is thinking and doing at all times, but you can't believe what a tempreature gague is telling you. You can watch the ice caps melt. You can see the smog in the air. You can watch the waters rise, but you still don't believe what you are seeing is real. Un-freaking-believable!

most scientific data gathered regarding Ice Ages indicates these were preceded by a global warming, this then caused a rebound affect which results in an Ice Age. this of course only applies to those we "believe" the earth is a little older than 6000 yes old, for those who believe in the young earth theory (creationism or whatever it's called this week) there was a warming period before the "great flood".

and yes it may be arrogant of me to think so but I do believe that us humans are affecting the Creator's planet (whoever you believe the creator to be), we are polluting air, soil, and water every day. landfills are filling with trash, sure we can dig more and since some feel these do no harm I am sure they will be happy to volunteer the land around their home afterall we aren't polluting.

reality is we don't know to what extent we are affecting our climate but at some point in time doesn't it make sense to be pro-active to stopping a problem rather than waiting for it to hit the fan And be reactive?

Daily Horoscope for December 6

Taurus

If you gave up over what happened yesterday, you stand a better chance of sorting things out today. Talking to the person who failed to go for the teamwork may help to get a grip on the situation, especially if you manage to avoid recriminations or accusations. Instead, do your best to be as understanding and compassionate as possible. Or just let it go.
