How can the city buy land an not repair the water leaks all over town. Sure they say the new taxs for the police is paying for it. How about the street that are full of pot holes.

I thought the law enforcement tax was for law enforcement, not real estate speculation. That's what happens when you go along with the requests for a law enforcement tax so we'll have better protection. But, we're using the money in a residential neighborhood away from the businesses, bank and highway, to buy real estate to build a new city hall we don't need and build a new police department when we have one less than 10 years old. Maybe we don't really need the tax at all. If this goes through, we may have to see if the citizens can do something to terminate the tax.

I agree ACORN why did they have to SNEAK it through council. Why wasn't it announced to the public since we are suppose to be the one paying for it? We also have enough tax dollars to buy two New Cars. Why don't we get some Businesses in here and a Factory back in the Factory building instead or a warehouse? This town needs to get Priority Straight. The County would have been better of building a Jail since they take over Thayers prisoners that are arrested for felonies.

THIS IS COUNCILMEN BOB FREEMAN, I HAVE NOT BEEN IN AGREEMENT WITH THIS NEW LAND PURCHASE. PRESENTLY A SURVEY HAS BEEN DONE, OF 49 HOME WITHIN A 2 BLOCK RADIUS OF THIS PURPOSED LOT. WITHIN THIS SURVEY, 87% OBJECTED TO THE PURCHASE OF THIS LOT FOR A NEW CITY BUILDING.
AFTER BEING IN THE IMMEDIATE CONVERSATIONS WITH MANY CITIZENS I STILL FEEL THAT THIS PROJECT NEEDS TO BE PUT ON HOLD, AND TO INVESTIGATE OTHER AVENUES.
I AGREE WITH THE CITIZENS THAT THE MONEY WITHIN THE CITY HAS NOT BEEN USED TO THE FULL EXTENT OF WHERE IT'S NEEDED. I NEED SUPPORT TO TRY AND CORRECT THESE PROBLEMS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONCERNS AND COMMENTS.

I'm not opposed to the City buying the land, it would be good for something other than a new city hall or new police dept. But, this is not why we supported and passed a law enforcement tax. If you abuse what we voted in, then we won't pass anything else, and we'll vote this one out.

How about a different location for the new police department. I believe that the area where the pulling track and rodeo areana is would be a great location. It is flat and away from any kind of child care.

What's wrong with the one we have? It's only 10 years old. Didn't the city already decide the current location was the best place for the Police Dept? Especially in these hard economic times, City shouldn't be wasteful with money or property.
Why move the Police dept to the city park area? That makes no more sense than moving it to the residential area. The current location is the best in town for the PD.

I think its absolutely stupid that they are goin to put a JAIL in between a daycare center and headstart. Do we really need our children seein that kind of crap everyday? Shakles, handcuffs, orange jumps. We as a community need to do something about this.

Personally, I think Bailey has done a good job, and I was in favor of the law enforcement tax. But, this new Police Dept and new City Hall thing is clearly going too far and does not have the support of the citizens.

I've always heard the people up in thayer never wanted to make any progress or changes, something about some factories getn passed over cause nobodhy wanted to hear the noise. sounds like that may be true, yaw just honker down in your dirty little town and let it fall in around you and wonder why your young people always move. Sounds like your leaders are at least trying to improve the city, give some credit. It's not the 1960's anymore. Isnt this all happening while half the town is serving on the "community betterment team" ? guess yaw had rather have flower beds than new buildings.

Thayer needs change that will bring jobs to keep young people from moving away not unnecessary amenities for the Thayer Government Officials and Cops.

What factories were those that wanted to come to Thayer? Name them and I'll call them personally. The problem is somebody heard something about someone who might possibly want to sometime in the future think about maybe putting a fictional factory in Thayer, if the government would finance the whole thing and the city would give free utilities and land. And then the rumor spreads, like you just stated, that we bypassed a factory. Good grief. Building a new city hall that I have never heard anyone say we need, and a new police department in a residential area when ours is 10 years old, is not a good use of "law enforcement" tax money. I'm assuming flower beds don't come under law enforcement either.

I personally think our police department is top notch & Chief Bailey should be patted on the back and thanked by every citizen of Thayer Missouri. What do you people want, you can't be happy. Believe me I'm glad to have such a top notch professional acting police force. I'm not sure what they are paid, but I'm sure they could make more money somewhere else. But instead they put their lives on the line for a bunch of folks who are ungrateful & complaining all the time. Thayer police if you read this I commend you for a job well done and thanks for having my back, I do appreciate everything you do & the sacrifices you make each day. Stay safe & God Bless
