Has never been right.

Demolish and start over.

Demolish and build UTMB there

Put it back to farm land.

Actually, at Christmas, it's nice having a place to shop that doesn't require swimming upstream against the crowds of other shoppers.

Seriously, they've had good anchor stores in the past. I have never understood why they have such a hard time making a go of it.

One of the major problems they have is shoplifting.....some stores can't make a profit because of it.

Desi is right - there is a local element that hangs out at this mall and they like to shoplift. Dillards had a serious problem with employees being part of the shoplifting, so I don't blame them for closing up shop.

I walked in the door on April fools day to return an item and the joke was on me! The mold smell was overwhelming, the floors were all wet from rain, FEMA took over the Dillards building, and the store that sold me the return was gone. In fact, 8 or 9 stores were gone! I was just there in February. What happened! I am leaning to agree with others that in a very short time, this mall has become closer to closing than it ever has in the past. What happened!

I', w/ u I think it just need to be given more publicity & get good retail stores to come. It's a nice mall in a nice area. I hate Baybrook, it's always over crowed and the eating area was badly done. Traffic is horrible there and I was once almost a victim of kidnapp. Mall of Mainland just needs, the help of the community and a good marketing team.

why has MOM always struggled? The growth is here -- looks like it should be able to thrive but just can't keep good retail going. Maybe people like driving to Bay Brook? I'd much prefer the location and size of MOM -- but most of the time end up going to Bay Brook just because I can't find what I need at MOM. I agree with Mari that the community needs to support the mall, but how do you support a mall with such limited retail options?

Alot of it has to do with the character of those visiting the mall......can't buy many clothes from JC Penney's with a "Lone Star Card".

While at Baybrook, I ran into a manager from a closed jewelery store at MOM and she said the mold count has steadily increased since hurricane Ike. The womens clothing store that closed at MOM has reopened at 646 and the terrible leaks at MOM were his explanation for the move. They both told me a guy working there had all the stores filled at Christmas but was pushed aside after the first of the year, and that was the last straw for those that have left since.

I agree with you all.
Mall of the mainland has been here for quite some time, its a really good mall has everything you usually need, its just had a rought couple of years lately. Really it just needs a little remodeling in some areas and some hot new stores that have become popular in other malls and its busness with boost back up. I've come to this mall since a was a child. Its very dependable and its alwas been less crowded than others which is a big plus.

Less crowded is the right. It stinks, has no mainstream shops, lame gross mall food, roaming weekend gangs, and floods everytime it rains hard. The park and ride has about 5 cars(Probably employees) and opened the same day as Willowbrook and Town Square park and rides,(two other failing malls by the way)the picture is clear to me. Baybrook is worth the gas!

I live right by MOM. First off you cant see it from the freeway. The shopping center by the mall used to have a walmart but it closed and moved across the highway because they knew if it could be seen it would have more bussiness. That caused alot of people to leave that area. The opening of the thriving Baybrook Mall has driven people away. Painting murals on the walls where stores used to be is a horrible idea! And army recruitment! Thats what tearing people away! The movie theatre is a different story its always packed but the mall is always deserted! All of the kiosks are deserted....nobody will help you at tilt because theres no one there. You walk forever to get from store to store.... gangs are always hanging by the movie theatre. If that dang movie theatre wasnt there it would be closed for sure!
