Candidates favor city manager government

Full story: El Paso Times

Though recommendations to the mayor and council by the city manager haven't always been met positively, the candidates in June's runoff election agree that the council-manager form of government created in 2004 has been a positive move for the city.

"I am not a crook" "I am innocent" "I will be vindicated" "This is the toughest race I have ever run" I didn't sell my vote to Hunt. I didn't sign my vote to Manny Hinojosa and Pastor Brown. I do answer to my constituents.

She is better than Ness the Mess who owes hundreds of thousands of dollars and is Theresa Caballero's twin. The lady is crazy.

Vote Noe unless you want a red light district at city hall!

City Manager form of government has saved money, increased efficiency, and has resulted in better benefits for taxpayers.

Ann Lilly does not participate and does not comment because she is both stupid and totally uninformed on the issues. Not to mention being arrogant and a world class phony ...

Noe is the one who doesn't know city government. The city manager does not need a bunch of deputies. She has well-paid department heads who should report directly to her. We cannot afford the luxury of having an unnecessary level of management between the city manager and department heads. At least Noe is not as big of an idiot as Lilly.

Amazing how the Mayela and Ness supporters get on the forums and just trash their opposition. They can't state a platform. Mayela and Ness don't have one. They are power hungry. Ness owes $190,000 in federal tax liens and $33,000 in judgments against her for stiffing her vendors and walking away from her obligations to pay for services rendered to her. Wonder if she lets her clients get away with that. Mayela has an ax to grind with the city manager - she's probably been in trouble as a secretary on the 10th floor - someone should request her personnel file through Open Records. You can get it.

City managers are the new form of governmemnt, we need a city manager, just not this one. A city manager with so many assistants and grand salary, that it totals 1/2 million dollars a year in salaries.

Lilley forgets the purpose of asking questions or commenting is ensure that she and the public understands and perhaps find a better solution. ZZZZZZZzzzzzzz.

Then we have the plumber that takes instructions from the manager.

Rey, before Cook got elected, we didn't have a City Manager. Somehow the politicians ran that "game" on US that we needed, had to have a City Manager. At a cost of almost a MILLION bucks a year for her and her "cast of dozens", assistant, to the asssistant, to the assistant.......... El Paso can't afford, doesn't need a City Manager. Always before the Mayor, Council ran the city. So why now, since Cook came to POWER, do we need another bureaucrat to PAY? The Mayor's always handled the job before, so why not now? If Cook can't handle the job then we need to get rid of him and hire somebody who can, will do the job. The City Manager IS NOT responsible to US. She and her cast of dozens do whatever they want and the Mayor, Council will say nothing, do nothing. WE have NO say over what she does. We do not need a "part time" Mayor who supposedly REPRESENTS US and spends all his time outta town visiting, making bar BQ sauce and playing his guitar. And since the City Manager has her "million$$$$" "Council" we don't need the city Council either. They are all just more people for US to pay and THEY do not represent US.

If Noe, knows how to “Run a business” why is it that he is getting sued? Could it be because he did not pay for the services he got for his building? How about additional work on his building and not pulling the ALL the proper permits, and NOT getting inspections on any of them or a Final Inspection? Yet, he claims he knows how to “Run a Business” what a crook!!!

Obviously you know gossip, but not what the process is in order to construct a building. When it comes to permits and inspections, it is up to the contractor heading the project to pull the necessary permits and make sure all inspections are done. Thus, the property OWNER doesn't have the responsibility to conduct these steps - it was up to the contractor. Plus, I don't see how the contractor's possible shortcomings reflect on a candidate's ability to run a business! The way to measure a businessperson's competency is to measure the success of his or her business...all indications are this man is successful.

Why does EL Paso have two mayors, Cook as mayor and Wilson as city manager.EL Paso should have just one person a manager not a mayor and manager it should not take two people to manage the city. One must go!!!Cook basically has no job yet is collecting a pay check all i see hem doing is unloading bags for south west airlines, following the code enforcer around or shopping at wal-mart at 10:30 in the morning at the trans mountain walmart. He should be in his downtown office doing the job taxpayers are paying him to do.All wilson does is suck up to EL Paso Electric the "Electric Company"as in the one that screwed up during the freezing weather last year.

Please present your proofs!~ Need some real evidence other than you speculations. As for Mayela, well nuff said about her. Show everyone that Ness has not made arrangements with the IRS to take care of her problems. Bring in the court paperwork from the IRS judgments and post them so they can be seen.
