Robberies in Texarkana

Something needs to be done about this ridiculous rash of robberies in Texarkana. My friend had her apartment broken into Thursday and her big screen TV and the kids' Xbox and Wii were taken. Also about 30 games. They climbed the balcony to get in! There was a white Charger around the area at the time and two black men were standing around it as if they were lookouts. Someone had to see a 50" TV being taken off a balcony! This was the Pointe Apartments where she lived, but the Brookhollow apts off of 24th are right behind her balcony and evidence showed they may have went back over the fence to Brookhollow. There is a reward for any info. We know someone had to see something. Help these kids get back their games! The convenience store right around the corner on 67 was broken into on the same night. If these boys need a job, let's give them one in jail as they work hard to pay restitution to the people they have robbed!

sorry to hear about your friend going through that. she should consider installation of slide bolt locks on the doors if she hasnt got them already. she should also contact the apartment managers about installing cameras on the backside of the apartments. not sure how well the place would follow up on the idea, but if they could position the cameras so they catch the entries without. sadly the kids are probably going to have to be a lot more discrete about their fun games in the future because it if is a neighborhood where it has happened once alreay then it is not impossible that it wouldnt happen again. downplaying what all they got is its own good deterant.

Folks just need to start shooting the scum bags that are doing the burglaries/robberies.

The police can only catch them and turn them into the court system. Once there, it is up to the DA and the courts to keep them away from society. Sadly, that doesn't happend, and it becomes a catch and release program for criminals.

Alarm systems and video survellance can help deter the criminals, but unless there are very serious consequences, low lifes will always look for an easy buck at someone else's expense.

i agree there needs to be more serious consequences, but anytime someone picks up a gun they are then in the defensive position of having to work like a big dog to avoid prison time if they cant sufficiently convince a jury of twelve. and those twelve are no guarantee. they got pulled from their jobs for a pathetic six dollars a day which barely buys their happy meal lunch. not sure i like the idea of my next ten to twenty years fate decided upon by john doe the plumber. if they get the jury decision wrong, oh well its not their concern afterwards.

In Texas it is presumed reasonable to use deadly force against someone who is trying to gain entry into your home, vehicle or place of business or trying to remove you from those places.

The likelyhood that you would be charged for defending yourself or using deadly force from someone making a forcible entry into your home or burglarizing it when you show up is very very slim.

shame you cant use that kind of response with an alleged news reported 14 child 40 count pedophile priest while working in a state office job listening to his filth comments two doors down, but they likely wouldnt allow it...

Be careful of wanting to shoot folks for simply aggravating you. Cause someone may find you aggravating and want to shoot you as well.

Hopefully your mother told you to be careful what you wish for. Just a thought.

libel, defamation and agressive workplace harassment intimidation from an alleged news reported serial child rapist in a state office isnt exactly "just aggravating"... but i digress...

Interesting conversation guys. I'm not sure how the family is doing over there. I know they are still pretty shaken up and want to move, but not sure if they caught the guy(s) yet. I am definitely all for justice, but I hate that these folks in this town feel the need to rob hard working people while they are at work. It's just sad. We should be trying to lift each other up instead of hurting each other. That may sound dorky, but that's how I feel.

I agree with farronwolf, start shooting the scum. The Castle Doctrine is one of many laws in Texas that up-holds our right to use deadly force. Perhaps if these punks were met with a few guns in their faces while trying to take what someone else worked for, they might think twice. I am sick of self entitled punks getting away with crime and sucking off the governmental tit.
