I unsubscribed from the Texarkana Gazette last month and boy do I feel better. I get all my news from Fox News now, so I know it wont be twisted by the left wingers, state run media.

I dont think our country would be in such a mess if the news media printed the real truth; and if the movie houses enforced their R ratings. Seems there are way to many "under age" children being allowed into "R" rated movies.

Its a breath of fresh air.

Not really. They are very truthful. It wasnt the Fox News that got caught editing the audio tapes of the Treyvon case.

Isn't Fox News ignoring Rupert Murdoch's hacking scandal?

Rupert Murdoch, the Australian-born chairman and controlling shareholder of News Corporation, the $53 billion company which owns Fox News.

In July 2011, Mr. Murdoch and his company became involved in a scandal involving hacking public figures’ telephone messages by journalists.

The paper had deleted voice mail messages from the cellphone of a 13-year-old girl who was abducted and murdered in 2002, a move that had added to vain hopes that she was still alive.

Mr. Murdoch also faces dozens of civil suits that come from a pool of more than 2,000 people the police have notified might have been victims of phone hacking.

Seems like the CEO was doing a lot of buying and sharing of information. Hope he hasn't encouraged those same unlawful acts with FOX News journalism as well.

..........regularly obtained illegal information about their subjects, harassed and threatened subjects into cooperating, and concealed their identities in pursuit of stories..........
......accusing it of a “general lack of respect for individual privacy and dignity.”.......
wow. thats some heavy hypocritical charges coming from the main stream media? who rarely if ever report on anything other than the color of shoes that George Clooney is wearing. or what song Barbara Streisand is singing next week.
Sounds like the hypocrites of the main stream media. I just consider the source.
I stopped counting at 10 on the number of other news media being accused of the same infringements.
anyway, they should have told them they were part of the obama administration and they would have been given a free pass from prosecution. apparently Fox has a lot of political enemies. You cant report news like they do and not ruffle the political feathers of corrupt politicians.

I subscribe to the Texarkana Gazette by way of the net. The coverage of local news and sports is the main reason. Texarkana needs a true Texarkana TV station. The quick and short reports over the Shreveport TV stations about Texarkana do not do the job in my view. Since there appears that no new TV station for Texarkana is not in the works, the local paper provides the best source for local news and sports. For national news coverage TV viewers have plenty of choices. However, they do not provide local news as the Gazette does.

Happy New Year 2013 to all on the forum !

Back to the subject, Texarkana Gazette: I would agree with you, but I have inside info that a lot of stories and events arent quite as true as they should be. Sensationalism seems to take the helm quite a bit.

Their editorials lean far to the left; All I'm saying is, its quite a breath of fresh air not to digest all the left wing propaganda they spew. I should have unsubscribed a long time ago.

If children happen to read it, they may think they dont have to stay in school to get a job; they can always work for the gazette.

the only real problem i see with newspaper, local or national, is that the internet news coverage provides a more dynamic updated version of news. sure you can change the date on the URL of the local paper late and night and get a sneek peak at tomorrow's headlines, but thats not the same as having live updates from news websites.

the internet is a job killer, just ask any music store, blockbuster or usps postal worker. brick and mortal business establishments are at a disadvantage to the 24/7 live updates on the internet.

I have pondered letting my subscription to the local rag go. I don't read it often but do get a kick at time at the Cheers & Jeers on Saturday. They are notoriously left leaning in their editorials and often a day or two late on news that by the time they get around to printing it. If it happens much past 5PM the previous day, forget about 'till the day after. Most news I get is online. Online versions of papers elsewhere and national outlets.

My wife on the other hand reads the paper from cover to cover every morning. If the subscription were to lapse, she AND the lapdog might get pissed.

I like the criminal reports. I like to keep up on all the prime examples of mischievous people that the general public should keep informed about. You can't get that kind of valuable local information from a generic national website. You can't rely on Shreveport ABC, CBS or NBC news to give truly detailed Texarkana news like the newspaper.

If and when people get clever, I like to reference all the real issues they need to be concerned about, so as to put them in their place for what is important to the community, and what is just politicing and busybodying with gossip.

I do not pester you in particular. I do not even know you. You are free to read and reflect upon the helpful information supplied or not at your discretion.

You have had and likely still do have an alleged, news documented, 14 child 40 count child molester former youth pastor working in and transferred to the texarkana hhsc office department of aging and disabilities on lake drive. That doesn’t concern you on some level? a potential child molester working in the same state building as child protective services? A man who has misuse the Christian good faith title of a youth pastor to reportedly molest at least fourteen children? That’s a direct affront to God to do something like that with the youth pastor job title.

It doesn’t matter if you are black or white, rich or poor, PHD or GED… everyone who has children understand the importance of protecting them from child molesters. If I were just trash talking to start an issue I could see concern, but my posts have provided reputable third party news sources that report this guy as an alleged news reported serial child rapist. Place the responsibility for your discomfort on the message not the messenger. Be grateful you are even aware of that information, because that alleged news reported child molester was totally below your radar in this community. And he has still been actively involved with child activities in Texarkana area through the bicycle clubs and his former work site being a toys for tots drop-off and his lobbying for bike paths near residential communities. That’s disturbing when a possible repeat molester has been that active in association with child activities in the community.

Dupree's name, his recent pictures and younger pictures are out there on the internet through two child protection websites and several newspaper websites. those websites claim he admitted to 14 children at least 40 times as far as he knew. thats not gossip, thats reputable news sources. you all were sooo quick to buy into his filth talk and misread the situation, you never stopped to think perhaps that is how a serial child rapists sets up their targets. and now that 1% rare chance someone can provide tangible proof to make his background of reasonable credible interest, and be dayum if you dont blame the person targeted by the crime instead fo the criminal themselves.

and youw onder why people lilke that get away with allegedly news reportably molesting 14 kids 40 times. no better response and reaction to the news than most people give, you people practically give guys like that an invitation on a silver platter.

Really. Get some better investigative professionalism before child molesters continue to target your school children somewhere. Your investigative ssytem is crazy.
