Anyone know of a "GOOD" gastroenterologist in this area? I have been going to Texarkana Gastroenterology Consultants for over a year now with no diagnosis and very little compassion. I am in my mid 30's and about once a month I go through severe pain where I pass alot of blood. This of course keeps me from going to work. My doctor seems to care less and gives me the "What do you want me to do about it" attitude. I have gone to the ER a few times (after hours) being told that my doc (the "spacialist") is on call. He never shows....Instead I end up with some resident no-name doctor that tells me I need to see a specialist. Which is what I've been doing. My personal favorite is when they received my stool sample and told me that they needed another becasuse it contained too much blood. DUH! That's why I came in.....Meanwhile, I called them twice last week to request a referral and I STILL waiting for a call back. I am desperate and I need help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

See the thread "Take me to Wadley". Find a specialist in Dallas or Little Rock.

Go to Methodist in the Texas Medical Center in Houston. Probably sooner than later.

Agree with the Dallas or Little Rock suggestion. Tyler is also a good choice. Between ETMC, Mother Francis and all the retiree's that have moved there over the last several decades, they have a very solid medical community. I go down there to see my heart doctor after the cardiologist here screwed up so bad.

I agree that if you can go somewhere else ou would rather not Dr Laura Balmain is wonderful and i cant imagine her having the i dont care attitude. My husband has colon cancer after the diagnosis we found a wonderful doc at the colon rectal specialists in shreveport. Dr Andrew Werner is truly a wonderful and caring doctor very thorough he has a team of doctors that are always there he took ninety percent of his colon and we were not in hospital a week hes doing great would reccomend them to everyone sure hope you get the help you need and quickly, i will be praying for you!

I have had wonderful service from two of the four remaining doctors there. My condition was chronic abdominal pain -- but after a thorough workup, my doctor told me that it wasn't something that could be fixed with a pill or treatment. I had to adjust my lifestyle and eating habits, but I am getting better.

I found Dr. Knowles to be very compassionate and he even worked with me on the amount I owed. You must've done something to trigger this...

Dr. Balmain discovered my colon cancer. At perhaps the most scariest point of my life, she told me the news in the most heartfelt and caring manner and then worked overtime to insure that I was quickly being managed by other specialist for my surgery and chemotherapy. I would choose her over anyone.

It's called a "code of ethics". No behavior should warrant being treated poorly.

I have seen everyone of the physicians at some point or another for care and have been more than satisfied with them all. Out of curiosity, why dont you see a physician closer to you since you are in Atlanta, GA.?

SERIOUSLY!Code of ethics does not mean they have to allow someone to treat them badly, although some think of themselves this way they are not GOD! They are human regardless you should hold yourself to a higher standard than that and expect your behavior to reflect on how you get treated by anyone Dr or not.

Because they came so highly recommended that I would drive the distance. And glad that I did...

In 2013 I suffered for 3 months with uncontrollable diverticulitis. After testing and colonoscopy the doctors had no idea how to control it. Furthermore, they miss a fistula on my colon which had attached itself to another organ. Also, my colon was leaking into my body causing my body to be septic. Close to death, I walked into Wadley for help. Within 2 hours I was in surgery to remove a section of my colon. I wore a colostomy bag for 4 months before having it reversed. Wadley saved my life.
2015, my wife has chrones. Doctor at txk gastroenterology prescribed pills as treatment. Within 5 days my wife collapsed. Wife had her stomach stapled two decades ago and has a 10mm passage that food/pills pass through to her stomach. Upon being prescribed the medication by txk gastroenterology she told the doctored she couldn't take the big pills, but he insisted it would be ok. The pills never made it to her colon where they needed to be to work. They just sat in the passage way blocking any food/water from getting into her body. Within that week, she collapsed. I rushed her to wadley. They immediately took her to surgery and retrieved the large ball of pills that sat in her stomach. Doctors at Wadley were amazed that she was prescribed the pills knowing that her stomach had been stapled. So, again wadley saved a life that had been jeopardized by txk gastroenterology. In my humble opinion, Txk gastroenterology is incompetent. I will do all I can to keep my family out of this place. Please, always seek out a second opinion if you go there.

This is called your period. It's a normal part of life, not much the doctor can do about it. I'm sorry your mother didn't explain it properly when you were younger.
