Can anyone recommend one, one that can come to where I live, and one that has reasonable prices, and one that knows what they're doing of course? I have a 2000 Ford Ranger sitting in the drive. Just put a brand new battery in it, and it still won't start, won't even turn over. Someone told me it might be the starter then. Personally I'm thinking it's just a bad connection somewhere, because the starter was replaced by Shockley a cpl of years ago before they closed up shop.

Let me get this straight. You want a mechanic that will come to your house, doesn't charge much, and knows what they're doing? You can't be serious. Thanks for the laugh.

I said reasonable rates. I said no such thing about cheap rates.
I don't expect someone to come over and work for 5 bucks an hour or something. I hang sheetrock for a living, and I would never do that for 5 bucks an hour, so I sure in hell don't expect someone else that knows a trade to do their trade for 5 bucks an hour either. I'm basically looking for someone that someone can recommend. I'm trying to save nyself a towing bill. They want 70 or 80 bucks around here just to tow it to a shop. I already have the truck up on a ramp to where one can get to to the starter. Already have 2 of the bolts out. But there is a third bolt on the other side that I'm having hell with. But I have no clue why I'm telling you all of this, since it's pretty obvious you're just trolling.

Just out of curiosity, if you live in Nash too, then why is it saying San Antonio, TX under your user name? At this point, not certain whether to take you serious or not, unless of course you're using a proxy server or something, and that's why it's showing as San Antonio.

Good question. If I had an answer for you I'd give ya one.
Burger King in Nash sucks. Guys used to be great and I miss the cute girls in the portable building who sold coffee and donuts on the corner.
I'm as local as it gets.
With enough warning I could meet you at sonic on kings hwy.

At this point I can for sure now take you seriously. Only someone local could possibly know about the cute girls in the portable building who sold coffee and donuts on the corner. Here's an email address you can contact me at, so we can discuss this further if you want. bringstormer@yahoo.com

So anyone who comes on Topix and makes a fool of you is a troll? You better get ready to meet lots of trolls. You don't even know what a troll is, you moron.

If the battery is good, and it won't do anything, you might try to jump it across the solenoid. Or check the fuse box under the dash and under the hood for blow fuses or relays.

On Fords it is on one of the fender sides under the hood. You simply turn the key to the on position and put a screw driver across the two bolts. If it is the solenoid it will bypass it and run juice to the starter.

If you have an omh meter you can check voltage at the solenoid and at the starter to see if it is getting juice.

I don't know any shadetree mechanics, but Pee Wee at Esquivel Auto, the old Shockleys, does good work and is reasonable.

You might give him a call.

I'm about as straight forward as it gets.
You have a problem, I probably have a solution. If I can't do it I know who can.
If You need a number for future reference then let me know how to get it to you.
I do 0 advertising. I'm strictly word of mouth. If you like my work and price you'll tell your friends. If you don't you'll tell everybody.

Unfortunately, the reason I likely came to a conclusion like that is because once I found this forum I did read thru that gypsy thread first. Very entertaining to say the least. I suspect probably not one gypsy was involved in that thread, but only trolls acting like they're gypsies. After thinking about it some more, you're probably correct, maybe saying you were trolling wasn't the correct thing to say, since no way I can compare how you reacted to my post to some of those posting in the gypsy thread. Maybe if I had been in a better mood at the time, I may have laughed along with you, since I actually have a good sense of humor most of the time. But unforunately I took your post a bit sarcasticly, and unfortunately returned sarcasm right back. But hey, I can admit I may have over reacted and came to a wrong conclusion. I'm man enough to aplogize, so I do apologize.

It's all good. I've seen and read many trolls. Some are good for a laugh and others are great warnings.

Sorry we got off on the wrong track. I didn't help matters any. Big misunderstanding. I'll take 100 % of the blame. Take care.

I can diagnose it for free, it's the cadillac tick convertor. Its plugged up like a pain pill poppin pregnant woman. Can hear it tic tic tic ticcin when its going down the road. Ill come over and get er goin real good right now for a bag of skunk. I rebuilt the motor in my corvette using parts of my paw paws hail bailer, that was after I ate some shrooms and dropped some acid but the damn thing still drove.

I know I'm happy. Got it running again today thanks to that guy
in this thread. He got right on it and got it going again, just like
he said he could. He was a man of his word. Don't find a whole lot of folks like that anymore.
