Caligula,Who decided this case would not be tried in a juvenile court? Is that solely at the judge's discretion? If so, regardless of how much we disagree with that decision, it was lawfully decided, right?
The other part of this is that things might have turned out WORSE for Rachel had there been a trial. Around these parts people are skeptical of mental illness or anything else that doesn't fit into their simplistic worldview. Most of the smart jurors would've been weeded out during voir dire. In another STATE, things might be different.
And lastly, we can't just accuse one person of contributing to the delinquency of a troubled minor - several were stone guilty of that. Although I wouldn't mind seeing them do some time for it - SOMETHING other than NOTHING.

or names of the persons
that made the decision
to take this case out of
" Mob Rule " can never be the basis
for a judge's decision.
" Mob Rule " is not lawful !
" Mob Rule " means " no law " !
