So, if there had been no stimulus, would the unemployment rate would have gone higher or lower?

Did the stimulus put people to work or just prolong the unemployment? When in a hole the first thing you do is stop digging if you want out.We haven't come out of this hole but we have gotten deeper.If you want jobs you create tax breaks for the people doing the hiring so they can expand. this is a true stimulus. Raise taxes or stop tax breaks they close there wallets stop hiring and when someone quits or loses there job they do not replace them.So my answer is no this did nothing but let the numbers keep climbing.
