not a gypsy or a traveler. have met quite a few. what i can tell you is this. if you have their back, they have yours. if you are fortunate enough to not be considered an outsider, you will have a friend for life.

perhaps cracking a book on roma history before judging all would be a good start,,,as a proud romnichall raising my kids with the morals and traditions that have been a part of our people for hundreds of years, i am always amazed at the judgmental attitudes of those that have no real knowledge of our people , our people are very misunderstood and stereotyped mostly un fairly .first of all every culture has its ways, and good and bad exist in every single race of people on earth.....knowledge

I ran across this thread because I was genuinely curious about the culture and people. I work in retail in the mall, jewelry specifically. I get the pleasure of meeting them nd their families and so I became curious. The several families I have met are genuinely kind and intelligent. From what I see they take tremendous pride in all aspects of their life. I'm not jealous however I admire them. They really are a beautiful people and I enjoy interacting with them. I also admire their children. Very well loved and well mannered. I would love to be more acquainted with them. However I'm not southern simple minded and I enjoy learning about people.

Ma'am ;) I have a genuine love of people. I truly believe it is the gift God has given me. I look through stereotypes and images others portray and see the beauty in people. God doesn't love me any more than a homeless junky under a bridge. God even loves the people on here slandering and speaking from a heart full of hate. I simply pray for those goofs. Come to my place if business anytime. You will be treated with utmost respect and genuine kindness. Plus I love seeing what your little girls are wearing. They always look like little princesses

My husband and I moved to Texarkana about a year ago from Georgis in search for work. We have a hard time finding people who want to do business with us because we are Romany. For the most part, Texarkana has been welcoming to us. My husband is working in a factory with odd jobs here or there and I am the girl in the "slutty Ed Hardy clothes with big nasty hair and trashy attitude" that will be receiving my degree from A&M in May. That is without the help of grants or loans, food stamps, or public assistance. I'm also a mother to four children under the age of 7. This is our heritage. If we aren't welcomed anywhere then where do we go?

I grew up since the age of 4 with gypsy's my best friend who died at the age of 16 was a gypsy . I have lived with them use to skip school just to go to blactopping taught the language . I learned a lot from them mostly what the true meaning of family is and how to have each others back no matter what . I was and still am concidered family to them even though I have went in another direction in life . I am 33 now have my own family I operate cranes In NYC but occasionally when I see my old friends its always a good time !
That being said now you know I'm not just some ignorant asshole about to make a stupid comment ! There are good and bad in every race , group , and religion . So to sit there and run your jibs saying all gypsys are bad people and scam artists you are expressing what the true meaning of what ignorance is. One thing I don't and will never do is judge the only one who who has that power to judge anyone is God and we all will have to answer to him one day.

I recently had a nursing clinical at St Michaels in Texarkana. One of the patients on my floor was a gypsy. That was the first encounter I had with gypsies and did not realize such a culture existed in this area. When I got home I did some reasearch and ended up on this site. As a nurse, it is your responsibility to be non judgemental, give everyone the same quality of care, and treat your patients with respect and dignity. It is also your responsibility to find out about a persons culture so you will know their beliefs concerning their care. I am glad that most of you on this site are not nurses........With that said, I also found a website that gave some very good information about the history of the gypsy culture. You should read it. http://www.everyculture.com/multi/Du-Ha/Gypsy... I found it very enlightening. I am sorry to see all of the hate and prejeduce I see on here. God loves us all and each one of has the chance to know Him until we take our last breath. He will judge all of us according to how we judge others. I feel sorry for some of you when you stand before Him. You will be judged hard.

Who are you to judge Ain't that God's job not yours. Find me one person in this world that is perfect I bet you can't. I live in texarkana am a Gypsy Went to school went the college graduated and got me a damn good job. I love in the gypsy camp y'all are talking about. Not all gypsy are the same we all have are Wannabes in this world! The one who do a bad job on your driveway is known as a Ref!!! there no good they would lie just make a penny. But as I see it there a lot of ppl in this world that would do the same thing not just ref or who ever you want to Associate with it. So judge all you want your opinion does not matter. I bet half of the people are talking shit is Trailerpark trash.

gypsy are same as everyone else, some good some bad but as a white guy I will say this, I have met quite a few and all work, keep themselves and kids clean well groomed, and are proud of what they got. Nothing wrong with that, more whites blacks and others could take note from them in some ways, just my opinion. They do keep a close grip on the women which is a shame, why can't a white boy get a chance

My grandparents settled in east texas started a septic pumping company also. They never got rich and were the nicest and most respected christians around. Just because one person from a different culture chor dont mean they are all thieves. Gorgas chor too but aint all gorgas thieves. Gypsies are the coolest people left on this earth and i think jealousy plays a big part in all the haters opinions. Gypsies are known for there style and revealing ways and most of them are crazy but they are some of the best peeps around ! Look me up on FB gypsies! Sug gorgas that pooker chichy about the romnis jajaja
