Taco Tico Closing????

Topeka, KS

#21 Jan 31, 2013
I worked for the South Topeka Kansas store. I was a shift leader there for a while. There was some shady shady stuff going on. We got eviction letters for non payment of taxes several times while I worked there less than a year ago. We also had our exterminator service shut off, phone shut off, and truck service was terminated due to non payment. Our paychecks were continually late or bounced. Bad place to work. Then last week the IRS or whoever came in and took all the cash from the store. NOW, the store is shut down. Anyone want to guess why?! Glad I got out before it nose dived into the ground!

I live in Bella Vista Ar. There was one in Rogers and one in Siloam Springs. Without warning they are closed :/ if I would have know they were going to close I would've savored my last meal from them. It's tragic.:(

It seems that more and more of the restaurants unique to the Texarakana area are becoming a thing of the past. All the "Rawlieghburgers"are gone. "Guys" as well and now Taco Tico. I live out of town but whenever I come to visit my home town I make a point of visiting this place. Too bad.

Last I heard, Guy's was still open in Nash and Taco Tico was not unique to Texarkana. In June of 2012, there were 36 restaurants in 6 states.

If you got the 36 stores off their official site, thats wrong, many have closed, site never updated anymore, even discontinued menu items from 3 yrs ago are still listed.
The thing is all this is happening with Taco Tico not cause of low sales, but cause of owners monkey business with $. I't all on pourpose for his "gain" out of the country.

The last time I ate at Taco Tico, the food tasted horrible but that doesn't mean I wanted the stores to go out of business.

I LOVED Taco Tico, but I will say that it seemed like there had not have been enough business to sustain the company in a LONG time. I jokingly thought to myself several times that they must have been laundering money or selling crack or something to stay open. Hardly anyone ever went inside. Why would the TT on 9th street remodel if they knew they were closing?

<quoted text> yes guess mohamond the owner had better places to send his money than to arkanas and what a joke on east 9th there is a banner that says thank u arkansas for 50 yrs well ummmm mahomond thank you for the screwing you gave arkansas workers r now unemployed thanks to him and yes i am now unemployed because of him last pay checks bounced wondr if these ones will too
Sounds like maybe he ran out of money. I don't mean to be mean, but the man has a right to close whatever he wants. Mohammad sounds like a real a-hole, but he isn't required to keep you in a job. Sounds like you had a good run. Now all 8 of you have to go find another job. Sad, but reality. They are lucky they stayed open as long as they did with NO business. And when I did go there, I was always cheerful and nice and was not treated the same by the employees. Seems as though you weren't happy there anyway.

I wish we could get some Jack in the Boxes. Little bitty Gilmer Texas has a Jack in the Box but we don't have one. Go figure.
I heard a Jack in the Box costs much more to open than a McDonald's. But I would trade most of the McD's we have here for one JITB!

here's the deal it's not "ran out of money" or "low/declining sales". Mohamood put money else where, not to where it was to go. Money is/was there, funneled elsewhere ( another business + out of country). He's a vulture, took over company to drain it to death. monkey business with money can kill things fast and it's all cause of him and his cohorts (and wife). You want to kill a business you own, dumb, but whatever. But peoples lives are affected and it'd be easier to swallow/understand if it was sales. He doesn't feel he has honor his commitmits or play by the basic rules of business.
He caused business drops by cutting staff which affects service, ran stores with out managers which left an employee free for all running things or just plain untrained/ or in over their heads experience wise to run a store with 1 day of training at min wage. He screwed supliers so proper product couldn't be obtained. And all good managers fired and kept some incomptant distric managers running things. It's stealing the company assetts pure and simple, and it was a day one plan from when he "bought" the company in May 2012. Company was having problems, but he took advantage of that, instead of good business decisions/plan to rebuild and improve the company. You can't do that when your focus is to hide the money, and work on starting a new business and focusing on that. A lower level madoff/ENRON.
(make that "lowlife").

Very sad that it had to happen to the employees. I did not realize that he bought it just in 2012. But you still can't tell me that the meager sales TT made were enough to sustain it for that long. I had been wondering for several years now how they were able to stay open. I ate there like at least twice a week, but they were always dead. I do not agree with putting the way the district managers appeared to be running the place, but this happens in a lot of fast food and regular restaurants. There is such a high turnover rate, that literally the employees you hire can make or break your business. But he has the right to funnel HIS money anywhere he wants. Some people don't care about their employees, which is sad because they are lifeblood of the business. Trust me, I am very sad about losing TT. I ate it in the womb and ever since then have been enjoying it until here recently. I wish someone would buy into the franchise again around here, if there is a franchise left. The tacos and well...everything was sooooooo good.

tt was actually bought out by mahmood in 2011, not 2012, my mistake. Business/corporations are to use
money for company business not their outside business only.
not caring about "real people" can be common, but bankrupting your own company for your own gain that is wrong. any business/corporation is entitled to their profit, but profit and more profit from not paying bills/rent when the money is there etc is theft. Also he may of bought company and defaulted on payments for purchase of the company so that could be theft./fraudObver time this monkey business affects employee attitudes and performance. Yes some long term problems from corporate and previous owner caused problems over the years and hurt business, and the economic crash hurt over the last several years, but many stores, with good mgmt/ distric mgnt hit record sales. but point being this wasn't cause of bad employees it was bad owner(s). And there were a couple dishonest distric mgrs doing questionable things as well, ones excuses being "owner screwing me so i'll screw him". how can managers and hourly employees possibly do their best when thats their distric managers example, followed by then letting his managers take the blame for his actions/poison attitude.

Also: As far as franchise stores remodeling, franchise owners part of but separate from corporation. They control their money separate from corporate. Mahmood promised stores wouldn't be closed so plans made based on his "word", then he screwed them.
