This happened at the end of my street.
Just horrible. It was mortifying to look at. When the police were measuring out the skid marks to where the bike landed it was like 20 feet!
I got home right after the accident happened and I saw the ambulance pulling away. They were there from about 12:30 to 3:30 just trying to figure out how the accident happened.
My dad saw the whole thing.
And the guy on the motercycle was a young male, but he was in reallly reallly bad condition :(

You are horrible. Yes, there are motercycles and trash trucks everywhere? Who cares. This is serious. This man is fighting for his life right now. I can't even believe somebody would write that.
Unbelievable.

I hate it when a trash truck driver decides to drive onto the wrong side of the street to pick up garbage cans insted of taking the time to do it the right way. I also hate it when you see all these foriegners tossing the barrels in the street after they empty them.

Even though I did not see this accident I can all most guarantee the driver of the trash truck is at fault. They drive around as if the rules don't apply to them. Wrong side of the road running through stop signs ect.. I have had a few close calls my self. The new trash system in Lowell has at least made them have to drive on the right side of the road!

The trash truck driver was turning off of bridge street on to shawsheen and the motorcycle was going straight and he ended up trying to stop and skidding right in to the truck. It's so unbelievably sad.
I found out last night that the driver didn't make it =(

I heard from somebody last night that the driver did not make it. I'm not sure thats true anymore when I saw another article stating that the driver was in stable condition. Hopefully that's true.

Also the drivers name was Nathan MaCdonald

So, as usual, the trash truck driver did not yield the right of way...typical.

I saw the scene and the kid laying on the ground. It appears that the truck pulled out and the motorcycle had no options at all.

To It's been a while... You are a real piece of sh*t, I can't believe that you would laugh at a poor kid who is fighting for his life.

When this happens to someone you love, please let us know so we can all come and celebrate

trash truck drivers are IDIOTs

the way they drive it seems they feel they own the road.

where I live, these clowns leave more trash behind than they pick up.

tossing barrels all over the roads...

on another board where this accident is being discussed, a comment was made about the "perception" of speed.

I agree that there is a possibility that this accident is the result of inexperience and/or speed; BUT, a witness to the accident could have overestimated the speed of the motorcyclist.

In my own experience, the cyclist is more observant to speed, road conditions and traffic pattern.
The trash truck operator...

think they own the road!

My husband is a driver with the trash truck company involved in the accident. He spoke to the laborer who was riding on the truck and he said that the truck pulled out and the motorcycle flew up the street doing 80 mph. The truck driver had no where to go. It is very sad and unfortunate and believe me, it's something all these guys dread and try to avoid. The driver has many years of driving experience and from what I'm told, a clean driving record. Please do not label all the drivers as reckless and irresponsible. My husband is a very cautious driver. Those trucks do not stop on a dime and I see people pull short in front of them all the time. It is always, unfortunately going to be found the truck drivers' fault, even when it's not. My prayers go out to the man on the motorcycle and especially the driver of the truck, who although probably was not at fault, will have to live with being involved for the rest of his life. So sad.
