Has all the ambition, just didn't go about it the right way.

Might be a little messed up in the head also to ever do that type of work in the future.......if he has one after this.

What a rotten little spoiled brat. I also think the investigators could have gotten him in their sites sooner, based on this story, he should have been a suspect a very long time ago.

He may be only the tip of the iceberg. There are very few fires in the whole state & a lot of overpaid firemen. I'm betting many are set by the local department.

Most fires are not set by the local fire departments ricbee. Unfortunately, every profession has bad seeds now and then and the fire service is not immune. Usually bad seeds are weeded out before they ever get the opportunity to tarnish the departments image. They do this usually with thorough background checks and polly graph tests prior to recruits being hired. However, I do not believe volunteer departments are required to go the same route. Maybe they ought to consider it.

You are awfully ignorant. There is a reason they are paid so much. To save your butt when your house is burning down. They experience more stress in an hour when they are at the scene of a fire, than you would in a whole year.

We will never know how many fires have been set by ambitious and wannabee hero volunteers. Too many of these people are very scary people. Another reason to hire professionals.

ricbee: right on, good to know someone else feels like I do. Of course we all know that cops rob banks, state and local highway workers intentionally create potholes, local weathermen have figured out how to cause blizzards, teachers have stumbled on the secret to creating ignorance, alcohol manufacturers cause alcoholism and, of course, cigarette smoking is still harmless. I'm betting you think evolution is all one big scam as well.

Overpaid? Are you kidding? I'm sure you wouldn't be complaining about their salary if they saved your home and family from a fire. Get a clue! These men and women deserve every penny they earn, they put their lives on the line to save others. There might be a bad seed out there, but you can't condemn the whole bunch!!

Dude - get a clue. First of all, firemen are NOT overpaid in those locations that have paid fire departments. Second of all, MOST towns in the state rely on UNPAID, VOLUNTEER firefighters (like Plymouth), so there was no financial gain for this twisted young man.

Pray that you never need either a volunteer or paid firefighter to save your sorry arse.

It's too bad we can't somehow mark ricbee so that when he or his family needs FD for help, we just don't respond. Or even better would be to respond and then sit back and watch his house burn. Or maybe sit while he screams for the FD to cut him from his car if he is in an accident. It a shame that we help EVERYBODY, idiot or not! I guess that means that even a jerk like you ricbee will be saved by an overpaid firefighter!

Who's this MORON? Professional? You mean paid? U make me want to puke. There are far more PROFESSIONAL VOLUNTEER HEROS than paid in this world my friend. And have no bugs about it. Many FF arsonists....are career FF's. The biggest sparkos are actually in the cities. Bank on that you HOMO.

'local', define professional? You mean getting paid? Of is it training, funding and motivation? Simple because someone draws a paycheck doesn't automatically mean they are professional. I would be curious to know what your opinion of professional truck drivers is. Do you have a high regard for them? Or when one is arrested for DIU or causing an accident or you're stuck behind him on the highway, does your attitude change and you feel these guys are just ignorant slobs riding on their butt all day? It's all about perception, and you have a very narrow and limited one.

Well, I don't know about the pay, but I have read many articles about firemen starting fires, just for the excitement of it all. I am with you Ricbee, this is the tip of the iceberg. Also, the kids reason for starting these was "I wasn't appreciated".
