It sounds like you guy/gals at Bemis should get to federal court next week and file a class action law suit against Bemis, if you haven't already done so. I don't think Bemis would want to pay out millions to the workers in a lawsuit, maybe the powers to be will see the light and realize it would be much cheaper to NOT get assessments, and avoid court.

I'm confused. If this is such an issue for the union/employees, why are the workers not striking? I would think that a strike would get the employer's attention.

Hmmm let’s say I have 2 shops. They are both board cutting facilities to make it easy.
1 shop has a manager, a foreman, a person to off load and load trucks and stack boards by the 1 saw, a person to operate the 1 saw and stack the cut boards, and 1 person to store the stacks and load trucks to ship out. I own the land, the building, all equipment, the special saw that I patented, and I developed the techniques and designs used. All I have to do is the selling. This shop makes me and my employees money.

The second shop has a manger, a foreman, but no one to load or unload trucks, and no one to cut the boards. I own the land, the building, all equipment, the special saw that I patented, and I developed the techniques and designs used. All I have to do is the selling. Selling? What selling? There is no one there to do the labor. So this shop makes me no money. But I also don’t have to deal with all the issues that come with labor costs huh?

No matter what you think or call yourself, if you are the boss, you ARE the boss. No matter what labor creates all and management makes sure that it does. They work hand in hand, it is never a democracy.
Yes your labor in creating the saw, designs, and techniques created the ability to have the shop and hire people and you should be compensated. But that labor stops once you start to utilize it to produce anything. Then, labor starts to utilize the tools given to produce and make money. Those doing that labor should also be compensated in a fair way. If all I have in each shop is say $400,000, then is it fair that I make $2,000,000 per year when my employees only make $25,000 with no benefits’? Maybe you would think it is fair but I don’t.

People have to get over themselves and the I I I MEME ME and start to recognize and respect those around them that help to make companies profitable and gives us all a means of living through their labor and sweat.

If the “haves” keep going down this road, then the “have nots” will rise up and send us into turmoil that will result in a communist type state of being. Example: 3 bosses to 15 workers, who will win? Rebellion or by the peaceful vote, the workers will win either way. Laws will change and the “haves” will find their numbers dwindling fast.

Wake up America.

All I want is what Bemis promised me and NOW is refusing to give!

Doesn't surprise me...what the employees need to do is get rid of the union, they are not helping, your union leader's pockets are lined, thats why they won't strike. What's next, Bemis will probably close their doors and 800 more people in Terre Haute will lose their jobs. Bemis use to be a great place to work years ago, just ask the ones who have been there 20-30 yrs? As flexographic printers you are all under paid by industry standards, you should consider what Bemis offers you all, an insult to your intelligence. Good Luck sounds like you all my need a little luck on your side.

If there is a union at Bemis, it does not sound as thought they have done well for the employees over the years but I bet the Union bosses are living ok.

You say that the business that makes 2,000,000 should pay you better each year. Perhaps, but what happens when the profit margin drops in bad times? DO you give back your salary or do you expect the owner to keep your higher salary? DO you think there are times when the industry slumps and employees are carried as opposed to laid off? There may need to be more incentive laden companies to pay well when the business does well but also back to reasonable wage when it does a little worse.
I would hate to see another union get paid to run out another business in this town.

Stupidity. It ain't Bemis, it's the insurance companies, they're all going to wellness assessment. It's to get you a cheaper group rate, so in essence, you're picketing against Bemis, who is using an insurance company that will give you a cheaper cut out of your paycheck. They did it at my plant. It is only a glucose and cholesterol check, anyway. BFD. You'd think they were doing a secret drug test or something, the way you idiots act. Oh yeah, protect your rights. Wake up and join the real world.

Wow, so you do not think people could do things for the right reasons? You think volunteers do it for all the money? You think people volunteer so they can make sacrifices? Man we better tell all those soldiers, ministers, community organizers, and everyone one else giving of themselves that we are on to them and if they do not stop then we will sick the republicans on them. Those self serving bas***s, how dare they give of themselves, we know they got other agendas.

We will have our republican buddies outlaw voluntary service to others. They are keeping people from making new businesses that could serve the needy at a price. YOU VOLUNTEERS ARE KEEPS THE ENTREPRENEURS DOWN YOU COMMIES!!!!

Isn’t that right “annon and who cares” tell’em all about how they are in it for themselves! Darn socialists always looking out for someone else, stupid no good do gooders!

Holy crud, the union leaders are now volunteers and not paid? I didn't know that. I may have to change my opinion of how he will fight till the end for others. Can you do one thing firts though? Please point out the part about his volunteering of his time for anything cause I missed it.
