As citizens of Vigo County, we have the right to go online and by clicking on Assessor, be able to go into Beacon and find out how our property taxes compare to others in our neighborhood. This ability is now being blocked. When you ask to see assessments, you get a "this website is being blocked" notice. Another instance of local govt trying to put things over on taxpayers. Just as they want to start charging for trash removal instead of reducing way too many city employees who are on the payroll to support the incumbents and don't do much of anything at all. Did you ever get on an elevator at city hall before election day? Everyone in the place knows they had better vote if they want to keep their "no work" jobs. And the bad thing is, they aren't even polite or friendly. They're just in your face, we run this town type thing, so don't even smile at us.

How do you know the local goverment is to blame? Could be the website, could be the State, could be the martians running up and down the streets.

Stands to reason ,with the Tax Cap Amendment on the ticket, hiding the truth from the taxpayer can only help. After this election, I bet it's back in service.

Just checked it again as we speak on two different browsers. "Web Site Not Available" is still the reply. Makes sense. Jam up the info and blame it on the internet when you don't want people to have access to the facts.

The trash removal fee will go through if people can't get access to tax information.

Where is the Tax Payer's assn. in all of this?

nosam, ronnie, and carry on must all be city employess who are afraid of being fired because they don't do much, but they could lose their jobs if the trash removal fee isn't voted in by the city council members.

It's time for the citizens of Vigo County to stand up for their rights.

There are way too many employees on the city payroll. When you walk around the courthouse from office to office you see them standing around and doing nothing, but frowning and refusing to answer simple questions because they are so afraid you might find how worthless they are. They are rude, nasty, purposely intimidating and their numbers should be greatly reduced.

You're either don't know how to follow simple directions or your phone/PC/internet is junk.

Why are you walking from office to office in the courthouse? Is that where sign up for freebies?
By the way if you are that damn dumb, that you can't follow a simple link, then please don't stand up for my rights thank you!

I am in the courthouse to check records and court cases. I am there many days a week. I am not signing up for freebies; just the opposite, I am trying to nail the losers who screw the system and inhabit the courthouse. And I must say, the courthouse employees are rude, inefficient and should not have their jobs.
They chew gum, look the other way, blow you off, look down their noses at you when you ask a simple question and generally have the attitude that they are in control because someone in the system has given them this job because they are related to this or that politican. Most of them don't have the slightest idea what they are doing or how to answer questions.

On election day, the courthouse employees know what they must do: Vote to keep the man in who pays their salaries for not doing much at all except take up space in the courthouse.

fire 1 person from every department

Some departments have been pared down. Street Dept roster is necessary because of inclement weather. Clerk's office is overloaded in some areas and bare in others. Area Plan Dept could use an overhaul and so could the Health Dept, Treasurer, Auditor, both Assessors and Recorder offices. Do we need 3 Commissioners?
Some like the Parks Dept are overloaded because it has a huge budget and the infamous Pat Ralston jacked it up like that.
