School Favoritism

I'm just wandering if this happens in alot of schools around here? Not so much as favorites of the teachers, but favorites of the parent voluteers. At my childs school, if you do not volunteer, you might as well be invisable. They are all friends on Facebook, have pictures of each other together, as well as their kids. They favor each others kids at school, hug them and talk in depth to them, while practically ignoring the other children. They suck up to the teachers and ignore the other parents in the halls. If you are not in their social circle, watch out! No, I am not jealous. I am not a social butterfly, by choice. I don't feel the need to befriend many people. I don't feel insecure. I'm just wandering how it may affect the other children. I don't ask my child, because I don't want to point it out, to them.

If you're wanting to know what effect it will have on the children:

The children of the social parents will be come more sociable themselves.

The children of the anti-social, clique-bashers will become, you guessed it, just like their parents.

This teaches us that, if you're an anti-social b|tch, your kids will turn out that way too.

Anti-social? I think not. My child has a nice group of friend, whose parents do not act like a group of Jr. High students competing in a popularity contest, while looking down their nose at other children and their parents. And, no I do not bash these parents to my child. It's great that they are able to volunteer, but the way most of them go about it seems lacking in couth and borderlines Peter Pan syndrome.

This happens in all schools, I often wondered if the parents arnt trying to re-live thier school years by attempting to fit in with the teachers, and thier click.
I volunteered in grade school, untill I saw that only a handfull of parents where really welcome, the rest of us where just in the way.
Out of my two children, one is a social butterfly, and the other a loaner, didnt have a thing to do with what I volunteered for at school.

Doesn't matter what organization you're involved in there will be a handful who form a clique. People who band together in that form usually close the doors to people who are unknown to them. But don't worry, they eventually turn on each other.

A lot of good points here but people have to understand that these parents suffer from a horrible disease...the Southside entitlement syndrome. symptoms are contagious...unwarrented arrogance, a loss of being down to earth, an increase in gossip, and a quick finger to make a call when things don't go their way. What's in a Name and her children are better off for not being part of this clique.

I volunteered at my child's school every chance I got.
The one and only reason: It gave me a chance to be withmy child. To build a relationship with them thru school as well as home.
put your child first/ the rest doesn't matter.
