I was at T's that night. Absolutely awful. Didn't someone get shot outside of Simrell's way back?

yup. Think it was a pretty successful college bar before that. Closed for a while, never fully recovered.

A guy was shot and killed at Hiway Tavern. Not sure when, but I would guess early 1990's.

A young woman named Tammy was stabbed and killed by her husband in or just outside 6th Ave many years ago. In the 80s I believe.

Sexual services in the restrooms, like at that Taco Bell in South Bend. Little girl walks in the women's room, comes out and asks "Mommy there's some ladies doing exercises on a man's private parts."

The Event center has about 200 people pay cover (the doorman told me) and the other 1200 mill around the parking lot having an outside party with the Steel Reserve and the half pints of Hennessy.

Also the "head thugs" just puch their ways in and not pay cover. Very little beer is sold there as everyone brings in their own booze.

I imagine Excise will be on their doorstep before long.

NOTHING will be done. Excise is a state run office. Ever see a State cop at the scene of possible violence? Nope, THPD everytime. State boys are all congregated at the Copper Bar waitin on the big stuff. No way some state flunky is going to harrass a brother.

The real problem of the event center can be solved if James Porter would hire Terre Haute police just like the Copper Bar does, Show-mes, and Ballys. I talked to James Porter about this and he said "They would allow that", meaning his folk. He is aware of the thugs, cons, felons and outlaws that are visiting his place. He simply wants it that way. The only real solution is for the ABC to shut it down. Lobby the Mayor who appoints the members of the ABC. The ABC consists of Jeff Linn, a lawyer, George Azar, Brian Stewart, and some other dude. Attend the ABC meeting in full and apply pressure. They will respond to that. They are just waiting to see if the people of Terre Haute will allow this or not.

The one that sticks in my head all these years was Sonny Rogers at the Wagon Wheel. Simrell's on the sidewalk out front.
