Here is my issue, I recently built a new home. I spent almost $200 on 3 garbage cans recently to aide in making sure I didn't contribute to Terre Haute's trash problem. They are ALMOST exactly the same as the new ones but the trash men have refused to dump them.... I usually have 1.5 cans full a week as I do have 2 kids in diapers, as well as I purchase food in bulk (wasteful packaging) and donate it to people I know that are having a tough time. FACE IT FOR MOST THESE IS TOUGH TIMES. Anyway so now I have these expensive worthless cans and have to cut back my garbage. I don't think it is for the city, or trash company, or whoever made this decision to pay for my garbage can OR decide how many cans I have. I could see if my garbage was excessive but its not. Oh and for the "poor" people.... I only made $17,000 three years ago... I was there and I NEVER had garbage in my yard. Just because I was poor didn't mean I was dirty. I picked my wife, and 2 kids up ... and moved forward with my life. Everyone UNLESS disabled is able to provide for yourself, do not wait for an opportunity make it. You can all do it, you just gotta want it.

One part of the problem is the trash pickers. They are destroying the bags and leaving them on top of the cans. I gave up on my alley and i provide my own cans and i also gave jamax an ear-full a couple of times considering the fact that they would pick up huebert at labor ready and put him to work when he could care less if the trash made it into the truck or not. Jamax literally made a mess for me several different times, let alone the trash pickers. Prolly' best to move away from such a repressed erea anyway, but i grew up here.

If anyone that has to buy their trash cans is interested I have two nearly new ones that cannot be used anymore. I replaced mine at a cost of $35 each six months ago, just a few weeks before the "big announcement". Thank goodness the city had their big meeting in the middle of another work day to decide what all citizens must now do.

Lining the streets with garbage cans will certainly make a better impression than garbage cans overflowing in the alleys. Besides the 80 year old next door should have no problem dragging her shiny new mini dumpster around her house to put it "within three feet of the road way with no obstructions" the haul it back after the dumping.
