What a pity for Scott and his family. I hope they can go on with their lives now. They will be in many people's prayers, as they have been all along.

Does anyone else think this is an preposterous conclusion???? He is drunk, OK. But he can speak to his mom and drive. But he goes to the boat ramp, hangs his car over just enough so it CAN roll (yes, I watched the bonus video), puts it then, not in park, but 5th gear(!!) and then drowns.
No one will convince me this is the most logical explanation. Doesn't it make more since maybe someone knocked him unconscious at the party (they were drunk to) and think they hurt him- or killed him and decide to dump him in the river instead of facing any form of punishment?????
I am so sorry for his family- and more sorry that I believe someone got away with murder.

There were no signs of wrong doing You would think it was good that they know he didn't die a voilant death If he was at a party with other people why didn't they speak up if he was drinking at a party, was he under ages who got the booze for him

Ok, Someone explain to me that if that river was checked 5 years ago why his car wasnt found then? I think this is a cover up by the police because they dropped the ball 5 years ago. If he was passed out when he hit that water it would have shocked him enough to wake him up. Nobody will ever convince me of anything but wrong doing. Anybody that knew him would know that he didnt drown and that he didnt drive down to that river on his own.

There was a similar case to this one about 10 years ago. It happened in Parke County during the Covered Bridge Festival. A girl, her friend, and a baby. The driver and the baby drowned but not the little girls mother. It happened the same way. She was parked but the car rolled into Raccoon Lake. I didn't believe that one and I don't believe this one. My sympathy and deepest regret goes to the Javin's Family. May he Rest In Peace!

Anyone with a brain would know that he did not accidentally drown himself. And after five years they could not tell if that happened or not. The police and the coronor did more than drop the ball on this one. Shame shame shame.

I just have one question for the police department. Can someone answer this for me? The question is........HOW COME THEY COULD NOT FIND A CAR JUST A FEW FEET OFF THE BANK IN THE WATER? I watched that video and read what the coronor thought happened. I could sit around all day and tell things like that to make a good sounding answer.

So sad. I don't believe this is what really happened. There is much more to the story but it will probably never be told. Someone is being protected and got away with murder. Maybe it was an accident but someone is covering up something. My sympathy to Scott's family and friends. May God help you to move on with your lives.

What...? Please! Do some police work. Did you loose the original investigation files or what? Or dare say the original investigation went south? Nothing against Dr. Kohr, but please...get a real medical examiner. Dear God, please take care of Scott's soul and bring peace to his parents.

now think about this, after all the time police looked for scott. someone called in a tip,and 2 days later scott's car was found.now i ask you, if it was a accident, how did the caller know where the car was? this is all a coverup and if you think about it you will see my point.i feel sorry for scott's family, and i hope THPD will get off their butt's and look closer at this!.

Yeah anybody with common sense could see that it wasn't accidental. They acted on tips from the informant in Evansville, then later said the informant made the story up. Yeah right! I am soooo pissed. Total bullshit in my opinion.

I pretty much agree with everyone else on this one. There's a cover up of some kind going on and I think Scott's parents know so too. What's sad is that the investigation is now closed and the truth is now hidden. Someone got away with murder.

Sherrif Marvel said during Dr. Kohr's power point that this was never an actual homicide investigation it was a missing persons right? Did I hear correct because on the six o'clock news he stated that he was shocked to hear of the accidental drowning because he had been investigating a homocide for the past five years and he said "homocide" three times! My point being they need to get thier stories straight if they are going to lie to the press and public! Had they not confered thierstories until the press conference tonight? Were they really working togather? I also think we should be informed of who this lying informant is and what is to be done with him if he is false informing the police? My heart goes out to the Javins family and you will be in my thoughts this holiday season! Godbless!

Too intoxicated to get out?...Realy, how do you know that? Waiting for toxicology reports? Come on Doc. He was alert enough to phone home. He spontaneously decided to turn around and go sober up in front of a muddy river? Passed out or fell asleep? Realy? Oops...Did someone forget Scott had a family member selling legitimate anhydrous ammonia to the farming community and two men from West Terre Haute wanted it?

I hate to say it but the Vigo Co. Sheriff Dept is a joke. 1st why would you be in 5th gear as you know if you have ever drove down to the boat ramp you wouldn't come down in 5th gear. You also wouldn't park at the top of the ramp (what could you see there). When you come to a stop you shift down! OK, 2nd the festival was going on can you drive down there in a car during that time?? One question that was asked "was the cd player in play position or on? Marvel said the car was off???? SO! My car will play the radio with the key off until I open the doors. So why didn't he just say " I don't know I didn't check". How can somebody after over 5 years just call and say heres where the car is...and what do ya know there it is???? How does that happen????? Im sorry for the parents loss and I know they will believe what they want to believe..but there sure alot of unanswerd questions in my opinion.

How is this an accident when someone called in the tip!!! Who in the world parks their stick shift in 5th gear? Not to mention on top of a boat ramp. Has anyone launched a boat since his disappearance. This is a slp in the face of the good people of Vigo county not to mention an almost fatal wound to an already injured family. I for one am going to request Dr. Baden to look at this case. If you agree with me go to http://www.hbo.com/autopsy/ and ask Dr. Baden

you can plainly see that they (the city and county) just gave up this is an easy way out for them. if you get a tip and the tip was good how can it be an accident.. it wasnt until the local papers ran the add about mr javens running for sherrif, imagine that.maybe thats what it will take to get the right answers. god bless you folks and someday god will let you know the truth.dont depend on our local goverment.there are other people and places that will help you with this case...
